<title>Language has a powerful impact on student success in the classroom. As the person with power, the teacher&#39;s language can frame how everyone else views things. When the teacher says things like &quot;his body really needs to move a lot&quot; instead of &quot;he doesn&#39;t sit still or listen&quot; that helps the other students see that student in a positive light. A teacher can say &quot;she&#39;s still working on her reading skills&quot; and it helps the other students see that student as an ongoing learner.</title>

<title>Language can be used to help students grasps concepts, but can also hinder them from grasping it. We have to be mindful of our word choices and scaffold the learning and academic vocabulary so that we can increase students ability to build their understanding and then reproduce it in new ways, using more and more academic vocabulary along the way.</title>
