         <description><![CDATA[<div>Technological advancements help prevent food shortage as they address aspects such as improving farm productivity and food storage. One such strategy is the implementation of Farming Technology. The use of HYVs and irrigation technology enabled food to be grown in places previously considered unsuitable for agriculture. For example, irrigation has allowed farming to be carried out in areas that were previously too dry to grow crops. Additionally, the improvement of storage technology also plays a part in preventing the lack of food. Crops can be distributed to places further away from its area of production and has led to a larger variety of food being made available and accessible for more people. For example, by building silos in Timor-Leste, the FAO has helped reduce the loss of crops to pests by 20%-40%. However, Farmers in LDCs do not have the financial means to afford such technological equipment and these strategies incur significant costs to the farmer. Therefore, technology may not be the most feasible solution to solve food shortages in LDCs. Additionally, there are other solutions such as social strategies which do not require high costs due to research and development, and these strategies can be implemented easily into LDCs.&nbsp;Therefore, I think that there is no one most important strategy to solve food shortage.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Agricultural strategy is the most important strategy to solve food shortage in LDCs. Because farming technologies are too expensive for many farmers in LDCs, technological strategies would not benefit farmers in LDCs like South Sudan, Thailand etc. On the other hand, social strategies like supporting local farmers  are difficult to attempt in LDCs. Because local farmers sell fresh produce, it will definitely be more expensive &nbsp; than big agribusinesses. Many people in LDCs earn very little income, so they will try their best to minimise &nbsp;the amount of money they spend on food. Hence, they will choose to not buy local produce. However, LDCs like Thailand have a lot of natural resources like land, that SG is leasing from to grow crops. Hence, agricultural strategies like multiple cropping and crop rotation help maximise  the amount of resources LDCs have. Crop rotation helps farmers overcome soil erosion and prevent a decrease in soil fertility by growing several crops on the same piece of land continuously. These strategies help maximise crop yield and increase food production, at a low cost, hence helping to solve food shortage.<br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the most important strategy is the technological strategy to look at for solving food shortage.<br><br>Technology has the most potential to grow the most food and to solve the problem of food shortage on a large scale. The use of HYVs and GMOs can significantly increase crop production and allow crops to be grown in places that it was not able to grow in before. This significantly increase the rate of food production. An example is a GMO of rice called wonder rice which saved India during a famine and it fed millions of people. This technology has also improved the efficiency of food production for farmers due to new technologies such as computers and high-tech farms.&nbsp;<br><br>Agricultural strategies do solve the problem but only in the short-term. Even if we use strategies like crop rotation, we would forever have a limited amount of land to use for food production which bottlenecks the amount we can produce. HOwever, technology is able to solve this issue by making crops that can grow in these types of land, or use tech to make these land usable for farm use<br><br>Social strategies do assist in the problem, however, it is not the best solution as technology is able to increase the output far more than what social strategies are able to accomplish<br><br>Therefore technological strategies are the most important in solving food shortage issues</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe that the most important strategy is the technological strategy. If we look across LDCs and DCs, the key factor that allows for DCs to produce enough food for the population, with much surplus, is the technology,. Similarly, the disparity in food production between DCs and LDCs is brought about by the gap in technology. Technology amplifies the scale of work that a single human can do which means that the ratio of food to manpower is every high and only a small population has to do farming. The lack of technology in DCs mean that the agricultural population has to live off sustinence farming which subsequently causes perhaps forces 80-90% of the population into agriculture, sevrely harming any future progesses with the lack of excess manpower.&nbsp;<br><br>On the other hand, looking at the agricultural strategies, they are cherries on top, meaning that they are bonuses which boost crop growth, but does not solve the inherent issue of manpower. Without machinery, agricultural strategies such as "rotation planting", albeit effective, will still trap farmers in low production poverty cycles because in the end, there is not enough surplus to generate funds for heavy machinery. Without heavy machinery, the production of food will be significantly smaller.<br><br>The social aspect is just too insignificant to begin with. Without any political power, social reforms will eventually be dissolved without persistence.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that the most important strategy to solve food shortage is crop rotation. Most food shortage issues usually occur in LDC, hence they are the most important target. Crop rotation is&nbsp; a more natural way to reduce farming issues like pests and crops due to the growing of multiple different crop variety. If one crop fails, there would still be others available. Moreover, different crops absorbs different nutrients so soil erosion would be reduced. Although crop rotation may not be the most effective of all the strategies, it is the most feasible for LDCs who are generally poor and unable to afford the expensive options like storage or machinery etc. Using other strategies like GMO are also not very good in the long run as it may cause damage to the environment through salinisation or create super weeds which are much more detrimental. Therefore, although crop rotation is not the most effective strategy, in the long run, it is a much more sustainable strategy, hence it is the most important.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the most important strategy is the agricultural strategies. In LDCs, technology is too costly due to their low GDPs. Furthermore, using of technology may cause serious food problems such as the possibilities of mutation after consuming GMOs. Agricultural strategies are the most dependable, as long as countries balance out leasing out land and retaining land for its own farmers.&nbsp;Agricultural strategies do not have any clear disadvantages, while using of technology does,  which includes cost and quality of products. For social strategies, it is not as effective in helping food shortage as it does not have a direct impact on the food stability of a country. </div>]]></description>

Such technology may bring about a wider scale of impact in solving food crisis especially in LDCs due to the improved yield of crops or genes that genetic modification brings about to increase efficiency of growing food. Especially because such genes may be beneficial to those in LDCs, like Golden Rice which helps to combat vitamin A deficiency and blindness. As more food is now produced, it can help to solve&nbsp; issues that population growth brings about in LDCs.&nbsp;<br><br>Of course, one limitation is money. Especially in LDCs, money could be the restricting factor in allowing for such tech to play a greater role in solving food crisis, given that most LDCs simply do not have the money to fund such high capital investments like GM foods or other technology. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

With technological strategies, almost all problems faced by LDCs can be solved unlike other strategies. For example, when LDCs face drought, they can simply grow drought resistant crops but this problem cant be solved through other means. It has also allowed crops to be grown in previously impossible conditions. It has also solved malnutrition in countries that grow these crops as they can be modified to have certain nutrients.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my opinion, the technology strategy is the most important strategy to look at, as the biotechnology helps to make up for the harsh environments in less developed countries, where majority of the crops are grow in. This helps to ensure that the crop yield is still sufficient despite the shortcomings so that the food demand is met. Another possible strategy category is social strategies, where people can support local farmers or have population control. However, this is not as important as the main factor causing food shortage may be the inhabitable environment instead, so social strategies may not be as much help in the less developed countries in comparison to the technological strategies.</div>]]></description>

As lots of money is required to invest in these technological research and in the beginning GM food might be more expensive than locally produced food, which will entice no one to purchase GM food.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the most important strategy to look at is the social strategies, especially in terms of controlling population growth, as in the context of LDCs this is a serious problem, and contributes greatly to the food shortage in these countries. as the populations in LDCs are also generally poorer, it would also be difficult to afford the technological advancements for farming, and would also be difficult to implement/afford the different agricultural methods in these LDCs. thus, I feel that the most pragmatic way to handle food shortage especially in the context of LDCs is the social strategies, thus I feel that it is the most important strategy to look at. even though it will be difficult to spread awareness on family planning and other methods so as to control population growth, I feel that it is still the most doable doable solution among the 3 given the limited financial resources in LDCs, moreover in the long run this strategy can also reap serious benefits, as compared to the technological and agricultural solutions which perhaps may only being in positive impacts for only a few years, and are much more costly as they may also require regular maintenance etc.<br>Therefore, I feel that the best solution to look at would be the social strategies, as it is the most pragmatic in the context of LDCs, and can go a long way in solving food shortage in the long run as well.</div>]]></description>

In both DC and LDCs, the primary issue of food shortage is the insufficient assess to food. With technology breakthrough, older technologies will eventually be cheaper, LDCs can utilise these tech to better grow, store and farm. With higher crop production, food shortage will be resolved. In DCs, more advanced tech will further increase crop yield, while decreasing the food price. The machinery and GM food can reduce is cost price of food, thus selling price will decrease as well. People in DC will be able to afford cheaper food. Overall, technological strategy is the root factor to solve food shortage. Without technology, agricultural and social strategies will have little impact in increasing the crop yield.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

However, Agricultural strategies only solve the one issue on productivity and providing more land for farmers to grow crops on. However, it does not provide any strategies on food storage. For social issues, it requires people to change their mindset as they have to choose to buy from local farmers and choose not to give birth to too many kids, and this is harder as it is hard to change the mindset of so many people that easily. Furthermore, supporting local farmers only helps to combat local food shortage issues, however, it does not help solve the issues faced of global food shortage. Therefore, I believe that technology will be the most effective strategy</div>]]></description>
