Plants are essential to all societies and the environment because all food, air, water, habitats and medicine come from plants. Ecosystems depend on plants for nutrients and shelter. Without plants, we would have no air and societies would cease to exist as a result.

The animation provided shows how Co2 passes through the stomata and how sunlight is absorbed through chlorophyll. The ending displays how glucose is the product and is used to provide energy within the cell.

There is a species of moss only native to a specific hillside located in Clayton county, Georgia. It is called the leucobryum glaucum (pincushion moss). This species grows due to our humid, subtropical climate and with over 40 inches of rainfall per year. The soil used is nutrient rich and is well-draining for the pincushion moss's habitat.

The tropical biome located along the coast of Australia is rapidly changing due to the climate. A rise in global temperature has caused over 50% of the coral to die off. This results in what is known as "coral bleaching." Bleaching occurs when warm ocean water stresses corals to the point that they expel the tiny algae. The Great Barrier Reef is in the most danger because it covers 133,000 miles and stretches over 1,200 miles along the Northeast coast.

The Green Revolution was a period in time when new agricultural practices were created to help farmers all over the world. The plan had two main practices: the introduction of newer higher-yield seeds and the expanded use of fertilizers. This would lead to the increase of the agricultural productivity at a global scale, which increased faster than population growth.

Many major cities are using vertical farming practices in urban areas around the world. Studies show that by the year 2050, nearly 80% of the earth’s population will reside in urban centers. To fit this change in population growth, we must increase industrial crop production and clear more ample land for crops and animals.
