If you have not had your baby yet and would like to take a Woodland Walk and speak with staff please ask your midwife to arrange this.

It is important that you add what your baby likes and any wishes you have, your wishes may be for that day or more long-term.

We also have our Woodland Wardrobe where you can help yourselves to linen and baby clothing.

We encourage all families to stay with their baby 24-7, this may be sleeping cot side on a reclining chair/pullout bed or in the bedrooms.

It is also helpful to spend a few nights in the bedroom before your baby goes home as this can be an anxious time for families.

Lots of interesting information and keep upto date with events.

Also you will be able to do crafts and painting with your baby.

Meet friends, get support and advice as your baby goes through their first year of life.

The Sibling Room is there to keep them entertained and we like them to also be involved in caring for the new baby.

Purchases come straight to NICU

Staff will support you through your expressing journey if you choose to provide milk for your baby.

Feel free to fill your baby's dairy in daily with memories, milestones and experiences. We have the facilities to print out photographs.

Why not encapsulate your milk in bespoke jewellery?

Babies on a preterm formula will commence powdered milk once they are 2kg and move onto the 2nd stage milk, please bring their bottle before 34 weeks gestation.

We promote elevated side lying feeding to support a safe feeding journey.

Staff will ensure the 'me and my baby' checklist is updated regular throughout your journey.

Additional bits may be put into there for you, so keep a look out.

You are gifted with a free book to read to your baby and we have a mobile library which you can wheel into your room.

They can provide you with additional help and support if required.

As soon as it is safe to do so staff will support you with this.

At Scunthorpe we have the bedrooms, pull-out beds and reclining chairs for families to be able to stay with their baby whenever possible.

This also includes dads or main carers on Transitional Care.

We also have our snack station which runs from donations, please ask if you would like to donate.

NICU team providing additional care. This care includes:

• Babies between 34-36wks (individually assessed)

• Babies weighing less than 2kg

• Babies requiring antibiotics

• Babies requiring phototherapy

• Babies with weight loss/feeding difficulties

Some babies do require the care to be escalated to NICU care. However, most are discharged to midwifery care or home from TC.

We are a level 2, which means that some babies may need transferring to another hospital for more specialist care, for example:

• Less than 30wks

• Surgical babies

• Mechanical Ventilation

• 36-37wk Prematurity

• Blood glucose levels

• A short period of observations

• Pain relief after birth

Any concerns will be escalated to the medical team.

It also allows us to look at areas where improvements need to be made moving forward to ensure we are consistently meeting families needs.

The feedback forms cover all aspects of care and are divided into the areas where your care was provided. There is also a very short discharge form that is separate so not to delay you on discharge day!

Breastpumps are available in the milk room and with peg on privacy signs, please help yourself.

This support continues after discharge with them attending Forest Friends groups.

They will also guide parents if their is any additional support required once you are at home. Otherwise follow safe sleeping advice through The Lullaby Trust.
