For instance, when creating a logo for a client, I may need to research similar designs to ensure originality and avoid copyright infringement. Information literacy skills will enable me to navigate copyright laws, properly attribute Creative Commons materials, and ethically source inspiration.

Moreover, as a designer, I will need to stay updated on industry trends, new software developments, and design principles. Lifelong learning and research will be essential to remain competitive and provide innovative solutions to clients. This might involve attending design conferences, participating in online courses, and regularly exploring design blogs and publications.

I believe that maintaining integrity is vital for a vibrant and healthy workplace. For instance, in the profession of a graphic designer, honesty is crucial when presenting design concepts to clients, ensuring accurate information and realistic promises. Fairness is essential when collaborating with a team, giving proper credit to everyone's contributions. Respect for others' opinions is key when receiving feedback from diverse clients and colleagues. Upholding academic integrity by using original work and properly attributing sources ensures a designer's professional credibility and ethical standards.

Q1.Do you consider yourself to be a high or low context communicator? Explain why and give a few examples to illustrate your answer.

My culture can be considered high context. People often prefer to ask around about their questions instead of asking directly or requesting a favor straightforwardly. Communication tends to be indirect, relying heavily on reading between the lines and understanding unspoken cues, with a focus on emotions rather than logic. Personally, I believe that low-context communication is more efficient in today's world. Based on my background and experiences, I now find myself somewhere between high and low-context communication. I can adapt to low-context communication while still paying attention to the nuanced behavioral details typical of high-context communication. For example, when I need to ask for a favor, I start with related context to smoothen the vibe before making my request. Instead of directly saying, "Can you help me with this project?" I might begin by discussing the project, sharing some challenges I’m facing, and then subtly leading into the favor. This approach helps to create a comfortable atmosphere and considers the other person's feelings.

Q1.In the workplace, different cultures value different benefits. Some are intrinsic (internal) factors and some are extrinsic (external) factors. What specific benefits would motivate employees in your culture? How are they viewed in Canada?

In my culture, the presence of distinct social classes significantly motivates people to advance their careers. The desire to move up the career ladder is often driven by the goal of achieving a higher social status, which can lead to better opportunities, increased respect, and improved living conditions. This ambition to rise above one's current class provides a strong incentive for professional development and hard work.

In contrast, in Canada, the emphasis on social equality and the relative absence of rigid class distinctions mean that people may not feel the same pressure to advance for the sake of social mobility. Instead, motivations in the Canadian workplace often stem from intrinsic factors such as personal fulfillment, professional growth, and job satisfaction. While career advancement is still important, it is typically pursued more for personal and professional reasons rather than a response to social class differences.
