Even though she was young, Evelyn saw the positive effect the new homes had on the community. As an adult, Evelyn realized that the homes that were built in her childhood neighborhood were built by Habitat for Humanity. Inspired by her childhood memories and her present overcrowded living conditions, Evelyn decided to apply to become a Habitat homeowner.

Evelyn is looking forward to the independence that owning her home will bring, as well as the new opportunities she will be able to provide for her son. Gustavo dreams of becoming a professional soccer player, so he is excited to have a back yard to practice in. He is also glad that he will have his own room for the privacy and for the space to study.
