We decided to go to Sequoia National Park my dad wanted to go to because he wanted to see all the big trees for the first time. It took 5 hours to get to the Sequoias we had to go up and around a mountain to get to the park and it was cold and hard to breathe. When Chris is talking to Jim Gallien Jim tries to talk Chris out of going into the while but Chris is (Determined) "pg6" to go into the wild and live there. Analysis: I would not want to go into the wild like how Alex went in. If I were to get a ride from a stranger I would ask him if I had enough stuff packed with me just to make sure that I wouldn't run out of anything. Analysis: If I where to find a dead body on an abandon bus I would be kinda scared because it would be the first time I would be looking at a dead body. I would throw up too because of the smell of the body decaying because of how long its been on the bus. Wayne tells Chris if he ever needed a job that he should go to South Dakota. The town that he arrived at in South Dakota has a population of 274 when Chris got there he went to go look for Wayne so he could get a job. Chris had to Sacrifice some time of his adventure because he went to work with Wayne so he can get some money. He had to give up his Freedom just for a little bit so he can go work with Wayne. When Chris was working he was told that Wayne had to leave because he had to go serve a sentence that was a felony. Wayne knew that it would be dangerous if he would sell black boxes to people but he did it anyway when Chris heard about it he just left the town and was free again and went back to his adventure.

Analysis: I don't understand that how Chris can trust random people that he meets on his journey. I understand that some people can be trusted but Chris trusts everyone he meets most of the time he stays with them for a couple of days or more. A ranger found the car under a tarp and a note saying that the car was broken if anyone was able to start the car then they can have it. There was other stuff that was in the car that belonged to Chris some of the stuff that he would use when he was going to be in the forest. When the ranger took the car they were going to use the car for an undercover drug investigation car. They wanted to look for people that would sell drugs or that would go and buy them from other people. The reason why the car was there was that there was a flash flood and it go the engine of the car wet. That is why the car was abandoned.

Analysis: I like how it didn't matter that his car got messed up. He still kept on going on his journey he just left the car and the things inside of the car. That shows that nothing will stop him from reaching his destination to Alaska. It won't matter if he has to walk the whole way there as long as he gets there he will be happy that he made it.

One day when Chris came into work he came in smelling bad the works didn't know how to tell him without being mean. They would just hint out telling him if he had soap and other stuff he would get mad and it would ruined his mood.

Analysis: Out of all the jobs Chris could have worked at he went to go work at a McDonald's. I thought he would have gotten a better job that would pay a good amount and he didn't stay there for a short amount of time. He stayed working at McDonald's for two years before he left and quit. He also made a bank amount so he can check in his paychecks he used his real information and everything. Ron told Chris what had happened to his wife and child on how they got killed. They had died when Ron has left to go overseas and Ron regretted that he had left his and child and it had hurt Ron so much now that he met Chris he thinks that he could adopt Chris's and become his grandfather. Chris doesn't want to talk about it so he tells Ron they will talk about it when he comes back from Alaska and Chris showed no weakness about it and he gets dropped off by Ron. Before leaving Chris gives Ron some advice about doing the same thing he is doing just leaving everything and going into the wild. Ron thought about it and he ended up doing it but when he picks up random people they tell him that Chis is dead and he had died in Alaska. Ron drops off the two randoms and goes to a store nearby and buys whiskey and starts to drink again he was devastated that Chris has died.

Analysis: This chapter was pretty sad not only did Ron lose his wife and kid but he also lost Chris. Even though he didn't know Chris that long he still wanted what is even worst is that he had to find out from other people that Chris has died. Analysis: It is amazing how one person can have a huge impact on people. Analysis: At the beginning of the chapter I didn't get why the author wanted to write about Everett. But when I started to read more about it I kinda got an idea of why he wrote about him. Analysis: I wonder how they knew that the body was Chris's and I wonder how long did it take them to find out who it was that was dead. Her name was Billie and she ended up moving in with Walt once they got married and she had 3 kids at 22. When Chris was in the third grade he received a high score on a standardized test and he didn't like it because he knew he had to do more work he was also fearless(pg 109) at the time. His family ends up moving and his sister gets a dog but Chirs would take the dog on runs and later on they were inseparable(pg 111) and they both wouldn't leave each other's side. When got out of high school he was forced to go to college and he hated that he was being forced he later changed(pg 105) and stopped talking to his friends. He would end up losing his temper(pg 105) sometimes and get mad. Later on, when he would get out of school for the summer Chris would abandon(pg 105) his family and go on road trips alone for the rest of the summer.

Analysis: I don't get how Chris's parents would work all the time and not want to be with their kids it doesn't make sense. I understand that they need to work and make money but they don't need to work all the time they should have at least spent time with their kids. His family would talk about how Chris was overconfident(pg 118) with a lot of things that he would do they would think that it would be too easy and his family thinks that it's what killed him. His friend would say that he would stop hanging out with them and that he would start to become introverted(pg 120) and not want to hang out with anybody.

Analysis I don't know how I would feel if I was Chris I am pretty sure I wouldn't do what he did where he just left his family and went on road trips so he doesn't have to see them and be angry. I would probably just be straight up with my parents and tell them what I know. I am pretty sure I would deny the fact that a family member is dead and that I would have to see it for my self to believe it. Krakauer was sort of like Chris they both had family issues and they both wanted to get away from the problems so they left. But Krakauer was different he was going to go climb a mountain and not live in the wilderness. Krakauer wanted to go climb devils thumb in Alaska when he got to Alaska he was told about crevasses(pg 138) and other things to avoid. Krakauer knew he would be in danger(pg 138) if he fell in one of those after he was told about the crevasses he was afraid(pg 139) that he might fall in one. So he goes up to the location by skis and when he arrives he had to make sure to wait until the weather is clear or it will be the death(pg 134) of him. 

Analysis: I don't think I would want to go to Alaska to go climb a mountain. Especially with out experience and not knowing where to step and how to get pass parts where there no holes. After that he starts to get hungry and lights up his stove but ends up lighting his tent on fire(pg 147) and after that he ends up having a hole in the tent. Now that there is a hole it gets thirty degrees colder (pg 147) inside and he knows that  the tent is not his and that it was his dads expensive tent. Krakauer knows that his dad is going to be filled with rage(pg 148) when he tells him that he burned a hole through the tent. But he doesn't want to tell his dad because his dad is sick with post-polio syndrome(pa 149) so he doesn't know what to do.

Analysis: I don't think I would be that board in the tent I would probably mostly sleep all day. Or I would read a book if I had one but after a while I don't think I would be able to keep myself entertained. Unless its only for 3 days then I wont be board but who knows how long I would be in the tent for. The both of them start to talk and Stuckey was only going to take Chris half way but was impressed by how smart he was he said he will take Chris all the way. When they arrive Stuckey tells Chris to call his parents to let them know where he is and then he leaves. Chris goes inside and gets books about what types of berry's he could eat and leaves an gets a ride by Jim Gallien. Chris finally arrives in front of the trail to take you to the forest and he goes walking in. The first thing he has to do is cross a river and when he tries to cross it but fell through the ice(pg 163). But he was lucky because it wasn't deep he gets out and reaches the other side and counties to walk. Chris want to be where he wont hear cars or other people he wants to be alone(pg 162) so he wont be bothered by anybody. After a couple of days he gets hungry and starts to go hunt but he isn't successful when he trys to kill an animal he would miss(pg 164). But after a while he would end up killing animals he even killed(pg 164) a moose(pg 166).

Analysis: I don't think I would be able to kill an animal even if I tried I feel like I would miss and scare it away. I mean I might be able to kill something but after that I don't think I would be able to eat it. The current(pg 173) was powerful(pg 173) once Krakauer and his friends crossed the river they couldn't believe that they made it. Analysis: I don't understand why Krakauer would want to go and see how Chris was living in the wilderness. I wonder if he was told what Chris went through to get to the bus and how he lived. After a while Chris starts to think and say that he wants to get out of the wilderness and go back with civilization(pg 189) and tries to cross the river to get back. But he isn't able to because of the river has rised up to his chest and he isn't able to swim because he's not the best at swimming. So he has to wait until the water goes down but and it wont go down for a few months so he continues to live the same way he did. But when he would go hunting he wouldn't be able to kill anything and would end up having to eat potato's(pg 192). But after a while he starts to starve because be runs out of food so he tries to eat the potato seed as his food. When he goes out to look for barry's he eats a poisoned(pg1 90) one but he doesn't know it until he starts to feel the effects of the poison. He starts to feel weak and isn't able to go and hunt so he ends up starving because of the swainsonine poisoning(pg 195). He ends up getting killed(pg 192).

Analysis That has to be one of the worst ways to die I feel bad that he died that way. I thought he would have died by a bear to by something that would have killed him quickly not a slow and painful death. But I want to know how come he didn't try anything to get peoples attention so someone can save him. His mom was the only one that wanted to go and see where he was found but his dad didn't want to because it was still hard for him to go and see where his own son died. When Billie and Walt arrived at the bus both of them were just standing looking at the bus and walking around it. Both the parents said that it was a nice place to be because it was silenced(pg 201). Billie decides to enter(pg 202) the bus so she can see what it looked like on the inside and how Chris lived. Walt ends up entering the bus and see's Billie holding a pair of pants that belonged to Chris and smells them. Billie tells Walt that they smell like Chris and that he should smell them but she has a painful(pg 202) smile when she tells Walt. They both examine(pg 202) the writing on the bus and they knew that it was Chris's writing and that they had lost him(pg 202) forever.

Analysis: I don't know how they can build up the courage to go and see where their son has died. I don't think I would be able to go and see where he was found dead even though it has been a couple of months. I would not want to be reminded of what had happened to the person and what they had been through.

He looks at the seeds that Chris ate when he was hungry and he sent the seeds to go get them checked out to see if they something toxin(p 9). When he got the results the seeds did have a toxin in side them it was called beta-ODHP(p 2). When Krakauer got the results he wasn't so sure about them so he wanted to make sure it was beta-ODHP so he sent the seeds back to get tested. But this time when he go the results he got something different from the first time. This time he got L-canavanine(p 9) so he knew that it wasn't beta-ODHP because Chris would have survived(p 20) if he ate that toxin. He knew that Chris wouldn't have died of starvation(p 1) because of it.   

Analysis: I don't understand why Krakauer is so obsessed with the death of Chris. After he died Krakauer still wanted to know how he died and what he ate to cause his death. I wonder if it was worth spending his time and dedication on finding the reason of the death.

I loved it when we would go and I would ask my dad if I can get my own tent so I can sleep on my own and it would be so cold at night. But in the morning it would be hot and I would tell my self that I would rather have it be cold like at night then hot in the morning. After everyone woke up we would go and walk around the camp site for a or drive to where the big trees are at. After I got back I told my friends that I had fun and that they should go one day so they can experience it too.

I would want to go camping with my friends someday like how Chris did it but it would be different. I wouldn't be running away from my family and leaving them without them knowing where I am. Or instead of spending 3 months in the woods I would want to spend 4 or 5 days in the woods. Also I wouldn't be going  alone either I would have people with me. This would be the first time that I wouldn't be going without my family camping and me just going with friends and seeing what would happen. But this would have to happen where we are all out of school and were all of us are free for a couple of days. We also have to plan out what we would have to bring like foods we would want and where we would want to go. We would also have to figure out how long we would want to stay and who brings what. I cant wait for the day to come when we all get to go camping and see what would happen.

Even though the author reveled the ending the story was pretty good it was kinda interesting too. I think it was cool how Chris went on an adventure with out money and he managed to stay alive with the help of people. But at the same time I hate him because he left his family and made them worry about him and he didn't care how they felt. The only thing that matter to him was the destination he wanted to reach. 

The reason why I like Chris was because there are some people that say what they want to do and never do it. He said he wanted to go to Alaska and he did and he did it without money. Before he left on his journey he donated all of his money to a charity with out telling his parents and it wasn't a little bit of money either it was 24 thousand dollars. Not only did he give away his money he abandoned his car and just deiced to walk and hitchhike it to Alaska. Chris was so dedicated to his dream nothing was going to stop him from reaching Alaska and nobody was going to change his mind about it either.

The reason why I hate him is because he didn't care about the people that helped him. He didn't care how they felt when he would leave them he and he also left his own sister who he cared about so much. He left her with out saying good by to her. there was one person who really cared about Chris when he meet him Ron really cared for Chris to the point where he wanted to adopted him. But Chris didn't care about that and he told him he didn't want to talk about it and Chris just left Ron. I can understand that Chris wanted to reach is goal but at least he could have been a little more caring of the people that helped him reach his destination. 

In the end I still liked Chris for not giving up on his adventure even though it got hard for him he didn't quit and still kept on going. But I still kinda hate him for what he did to the people that helped him they cared for him and he didn't care for there feelings. Not only did he not care for people he would tell them that when he was done with his journey he would come and visit them. But he ended up dying and now he wont be able to tell them about his journey.tCh
