I tried one of Dave's techniques. I have always made it a mission to learn names the first week. I would give candy to any student whose name I did not know by the end of the first week. This year I also gave candy to any student who could name all the other students by the end of the first week. It was great. --Tim

i also like the idea of giving candy to those who can name their classmates. i always thought i had good rapport. now i see that i have work to do. i love his plane crash idea and who stays and who goes. i could not act this out, but i could easily read dramatically a scenario that leads to the same thing. may try that next year!
