They were, like, really holy and did awesome stuff, so now they're chilling in Heaven. Catholics think these saints can talk to God for them, which is pretty cool if you need some extra help.

To become a saint, the Church does this whole investigation thing to make sure you weren't a jerk or anything. They check out your life, see if you were a good person, and if any miracles happened because people prayed to you.

Saints are like role models for Catholics. They show you how to be a good Christian and get closer to God. People don't worship saints, though; they just ask them to help out and be like, "Yo, can you put in a good word for me with God?" They come from all over and were alive at different times, so anyone can try to be a saint, I guess.
