All Islamic art pieces use a compass, ruler and obviously a pencil. They start off eith a circle and then begin making different shapes and patterns onto it. This creates an appealing image.

Some of the main aspects of Ottoman/Islamic art are Calligraphy, Geometric art and Miniatures. Calligraphy was the art of writing. Calligraphers had steady hands and held their pens with technique to emerge with beautifully written (literally) writing pieces. Geometric art is the use of tessellating pieces and shapes to come together to create a pattern. Miniatures were- as the name suggests- mini paintings. Dozens of artists would come together to skillfully make them. Miniatures normally depicted important occurrences in history or some famous story. Miniatures could be as small as 28mm.

Islamic Art has many recognizable patterns and features, including caligraphy, vegetal patterns, and complex geometric designs/patterns.Making pattersn would always start off by using a compass and ruler to make a circle, which is divided into either 4 folds,5 folds or 6 folds. Islamic artists usually avoid using figural representation of humans in their designs. The Ottoman Empire was known for introducing the world of Islamic Art as craftsmen took pre- existing motives from Roman and Persian cultures and made them into new forms of appearance. These designs are still used till this day in houses and carpets.

Islamic art has been shown throughout many centuries and these intricate designs have been used in many historic places, while they may seem daunting to do yourself, you only need two things to achieve making a geometric masterpiece yourself, these include a compass and a ruler, all geometric patterns start with a circle, which is then divided into folds of either 4, 5 or 6. then they would create construction lines on top of the folds, from these construction lines many designs can be created.
