Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, and fire service, he oversees 200 employees and manages a criminal investigation team and physical security staff. A certified police officer with the university, Brian Uridge helped integrate law enforcement into the school's health systems and developed its first ever K-9 program. Previously, Mr. Uridge spent several years as director of security services for Spectrum Health System in Grand Rapids, and more than 20 years as assistant chief of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. A frequent speaker on healthcare security topics, Mr. Uridge recently published an article in American Nurse on how community policing-based security strategies can help reduce violence in healthcare settings. Mr. Uridge earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice from Ferris State University and a master of arts in public administration from Western Michigan University.
