School knowledge can only be found inside the school/educational institution. Tests evaluate student memorization rather than understanding and applies pressure to the student. There is a place for tests, making connections between different student's understanding but it is not equitable. Having different forms of assessment would be more beneficial to student engagement. Certain subjects that are more formula based are harder to challenge, however often times in English, teachers expect students to look for the missing voices.

It is hard to find out what is credible and what is not in this day in age.

Transformative knowledge is rooted in the capacity to understand that our perspectives and viewpoints are not uniform, universal or neutral. Our thoughts, feelings and opinions are informed and shaped by various identities as well as socio-economic, historical, political and cultural contexts that surround us and many of us tend to internalize. In knowing that this is one of many factors that influence both educators and students, educators must be aware and dismantle existing biases and assumptions as it inevitably influences our pedagogy and practice. Not to mention, if we remain complicit in acknowledging our own biases and influences, we may intentionally or unintentionally limit our students and community from diversifying our resources and opportunities with them. Also, when we are able to confront our biases within ourselves and our students, we can better serve them in that we prioritize their lived experiences and can expand critical thinking with them. Critical thinking and transformative knowledge is learning to "unlearn".

This leads to the inability to relate the material to the real world.
- Causes students to become close-minded
- The pressure for teachers to follow the textbook can also lead them to be close minded
- We should be learning from each other through open discussion, rather than solely from a textbook

Popular knowledge affects teachers and students in terms of beauty standards. Students use social media and they see and are exposed to unachievable perfected levels of beauty standards. Therefore it is the responsibility of the teacher to be aware of the norms and the media culture and discuss about it in the classroom to have students be involved and also learn about what is going on in the current society. We as teachers also experience what is popular culture of what is the standard of being a "good teacher". Culturally relevant materials help students and teachers.
