the bbfc have strong rules against the age rating on movies and the blaire witch project is classed as a 15. reasons for this is because there is a frequent use of strong language, also there are strong threats made throughout, including scenes implying supernatural occurrences. also one scene a character discovers bloody human entrails wrapped in a missing characters clothes.

The start of the film starts in colour which represents normality, the colour also reflects excitement and happiness. as the film progresses there is a scene which is set in black and white, this is when the actors are in a cemetery, this automatically creates a eerie and unfordable mood for the audience. the characters where meant to be creating a documentary about the Blair witch however they end up becoming part of it, this is shown by the use of more black and white scenes towards the end of the film, this works because without the colour it causes uncertainty, and makes its frustrating to watch because we see in colour. this again creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for the audience.

Throughout the film there are many unexplainable occurrences, which happen, these are seven to freak out the characters as they create their documentary. this is a typical thing which happens in a supernatural horror and helps create suspense and keep the audience on the edge of their seat throughout.
