Students were only allowed to play when they finished the work for the day. And...to make it more challenging, until someone WON--the game was on-going. That means if you wanted to play, you had to take a seat and pick the game up where the last people left off. Kids loved it! As a librarian, I keep multiple chess games set up, checkers, and a puzzle table.
