With number talks, they can agree and disagree with each other.  -That's a strength
-Sometimes if I ask them to support it, they can't
-Sometimes they have trouble elaborating
-Sometimes my kids will say something and I will ask "can you elaborate on that?" and they can't
Maybe that's where using examples comes into play.  
-I think that's why it's so good for them to elaborate or support their ideas with examples, because they can tell you the answer, but they can't tell you why.
-Then they get frustrated that you're asking why and they don't want to volunteer anymore.
-So maybe tell everyone ahead of time that there is no wrong answer.
-That's the importance of asking why.
-My problem is with the wait time.  I ask why and they give me this face, and I go on to the next person.  I need to wait longer.

Caty: I can't give an example, but I know I did it.
Grace: We mentioned incorporating these skills, but I'm not confident that we did.
Sheila: If you look at these skills we are probably doing these without realizing it.
Tramel: We need to be more intentional.
Sheila: I ask that question all the time-what does that mean? We could focus on support ideas with examples. 
Grace: If we could see someone do it then we can do it.
Tramel: It will be easier to come up with ideas.

—we need listening skills
—a really good one we can emphasize is, i think, trying to hit everything is unrelisitic for me right now, but aligning one with informative, synthesizing and 
Paraphrasing will get us to those listening skills
—I do converse have partner conversations, but I haven’t made that transition from turn and talk to academic conversation
—the poster really helped, they understood, they were looking at each other
—I think its easier for me in math
—the manipulatives in math make it easier to talk to have something in their hands
