🧭 Welcome to the Wigan Inclusion Map by Leanne Taylor

a collaborative space to help us build a shared picture of the support, services, and initiatives available across the borough for neurodivergent and disabled individuals, and the employers who support them. This board is a starting point for mapping everything from peer groups and training offers to employment support, inclusive workplace initiatives, youth and education services, health and wellbeing pathways, and more. Whether you're adding a known service, a useful resource, or highlighting a gap, every contribution helps us move toward a future where support is easier to find, understand, and access.

The Council currently delivers a 'supported apprenticeships' project that seeks to support younger residents (16-24) with SEND or low-level mental health issues into apprenticeships. Support includes initial relationship building and understanding of aspirations, employer engagement and matching that may lead to an apprenticeship being offered (could be after initial work experience and / or part-time / temporary work), and ongoing support during the apprenticeship. Project currently funded until March 2026 but aspirations to extend beyond this. Keen to progress more Supported Interns onto Supported Apprenticeships going forwards.
