I vibe well with the whole idea of playing in sports that lead to great leadership skills. I feel like using sports to depict skills of teamwork will always give you a one up on other applicants for the job if the hiring manager played sports at anytime in their life. However, there is not enough information in here to tell me about your skills or experience in a marketing field. but nonetheless, those are good traits to have.

I agree that it is pretty great that you played sports but I'm not sure that that is enough to give you the angle and be hired over someone else. I think that you need to tell more about your skills and other areas of experience/things you learned during your time at Alma. I do agree that sports give you some awesome leadership skills, etc. but you need to talk about other ways you are experienced in the world of marketing and communication and what you can bring to the job.

I would not hire this applicant because of their lack of explanation for their certain skills and lack of experience in the field. I feel as though mentioning sports involvement, while that connection to leadership is correct, it does not pertain to the job at all.

This cover letter had a couple good points to it, however to an employer showing that you played and participated in clubs in your cover letter shows your priorities. I believe to an employer you need to sell yourself with credibility and experience in the field of work that you are applying towards.
