To be honest this is very confusing but, for example in nature there are already multiples of things like trees. We just gave it a name and numbers for how many trees there are and create concepts to comprehend the scope of the universe.

I think basic mathematical principles (and math in general) have always been there. We just invented concepts to understand them, theories that apply to what we see in reality. Math is basically just a language (made of symbols and numbers) that help us explain the universe around us. Technically, we invented the language, but it describes things that already exist in the first place. So, both.
- Mazaya

When people say that math is everywhere, it's true! Everything in the world has the ability to be calculated, counted, formulated; even the emotion of love! But the invented part is when technicality comes in and things of such. That's why I say both.

Since mathematics has many formulas and "instructions" on how to solve problems, terminology is needed in order to identify which formulas/solution can be suited to each problem. Per se, you cannot use the Pythagoras Thereom to solve everything, because it's not meant to do that. Giving things names and terms are crucial to our learning process and memorization.

I'd say math was invented as a way to process and digest pre-existing things in the world. For example, stones have always existed but math was invented as a process to be able to count those stones, and the numbers to be able to calculate more complex formulas and so no and so forth. It was created as a way to process, calculate, and explain things.

Intuition isn't baseless; it's usually supported by memory, senses, and logic. So if you're aided by intuition when you're working on math equations, oftentimes, you're referring back to past experiences. (Of course, you could be wrong.)
