It can be a made-up product that you have created or a message that you strongly believe in.

Week 2

· Chosen topic/product/message from your list of 80 things – summarises the thing you wish to promote. Must be specific and in a separate text box on your Padlet.

· Target audience – identify the specific group your message/product is created for. Be specific about this target audience and write a short rationale/reasoning for your decision.

· Annotated bibliography – include 3 academic sources with 3 inspiration videos/promo videos that are similar to the type of video you want to create. Annotate each academic source with a summary of what the source is about and how it is useful to your topic. Annotate each example promo video with a summary of what happens in the video, what is good/bad about it and how your video will be similar/different. Make sure all sources (both academic sources and example promo videos) have been referenced correctly with the UniSA Harvard referencing guide.

· Adding extra videos/pictures/sources that inspire you or are related to your topic can make your Padlet look more full and expand your brainstorming.

Week 3 – HTML (outside of Padlet, changing website template)

· HTML – Make sure you have added your Padlet into your journal.htm page using Visual Studio Code or a similar HTML text editor. Download the website template from week 3 tab and edit the HTML, don’t edit/delete CSS or any other files at this point.

· Change the webpage title so it changes the text in the tab of the website when you have it opened on Google Chrome. Change the text on the default.htm page to reflect your chosen message/product. Make sure to change the text in the widget box to reflect your student details and change the footer text in your default.htm and journal.htm pages to include your student email and the correct year. Information on how to do this is in the ‘HTML Tutorial Part Two’ document in the week 3 tab.

· Change Assignment 1 reflection text on the journal.htm page – What went well for assignment 1? Did you come across any complications? What could you have done differently? Make this about a paragraph/3-5 sentences.

Week 4

· Adding a mind-map to your Padlet, create using https://bubbl.us or draw using pens/markers and paper - you need to cover 5 different perspectives/approaches within your mind map. These need to stem from your main topic in the centre. They should explore 5 different ways of thinking about your topic; whether it be looking at it from a different target audience, different point of view within your promo video, different aesthetic/style/genre/design or a different approach to your topic.

· After completing your mind-map, did you want to redefine your topic? Have you clearly identified your target audience, your point of view/perspective or the approach that you are taking to look at your chosen topic? You can redefine your chosen message after completing your mind-map, if you have come up with a better approach to your topic.

· AIDA process – Include Attention, Interest, Desire and Action subheadings and delve deeper into how you will capture your audience’s attention, interest, desire within the story/approach and persuade them to take action (buy, promote, donate, etc.)

· Writing a treatment – You need to include a treatment that describes what the audience will see and hear in your promotional video. It needs to be descriptive, and state exactly what the audience will see and hear throughout the video (from start to finish). Your treatment may change once you’ve completed your promo video in assignment 2 – that is okay, just make sure you include an updated treatment with your assignment 2 video so your tutor has some context to what they will see when marking. Depending on how descriptive your treatment is, your treatment will be between 1-5 paragraphs. There is a resource for the ‘Screen Australia Synopsis Treatment and Format’ under the resources tab on the course website and an example of a treatment in the week 4 tab.

Week 5

· Tone – In a separate text box, discuss the tone/emotion you want to explore within your promotional video. If you are stuck with this section, look at the week 5 practical notes.

· Fonts/Typography – In a separate text box, explore the kinds of fonts/typography you’d like to use in your promo video and website. Think about the intended tone/atmosphere you want to create for your audience when researching fonts. Make sure to include screen captures/images of your chosen font in your Padlet, and annotate these to discuss why you chose these fonts.

· Colour palette – Create a colour palette that explores the tone/feel/atmosphere of your promotional video. Once you’ve included this colour palette in your Padlet, discuss why you chose these colours and what kind of effect it will have on your target audience (especially in terms of colour psychology).

You need to submit your Assignment 1 as a zipped, website folder. Your finalised Padlet should be embedded into your journal.htm page with your customised HTML text as discussed in week 3. Check the ‘submitting Assignment 1’ link in the week 5 tab for more details.

There are examples of student’s Padlets on the course website under ‘Assessment details’ in a folder marked ‘Previous student work for Assignment 1’.

Scholarly

There are many reasons building a hugging chair, while an inanimate object hugging you might not equat to that of an actual hug. But it is only meant to simulate it. According to an article written by Erica Cirino (2018), Hugs can reduce stress levels, can protect you from illnesses, boost your heart health, make you happier and reduce fear. Even if the chair can attain even a fraction of this capability, it would be great. Feeling stressed about work/study's? Just sit back in the chair receive a simulated hug.
- This was useful for the general list of reason why hugs are beneficial.

In an article written Martin G Helander (2010), stated that when it comes to marketting a chair, choosing between what to focus on in terms of the chairs design whether it was ergonomics, comfort, or aesthetics. It was noted that it was difficult for users to distinguish the ergonomics quality between other chairs, as it is not something that is easily percieved. Later on the study had determined that when it came to what attracts customers more was the aesthetics of the chair and whether it was comfortable or not. This was mainly because ergomics its not something that is easily seen to the common user and something that looks nice will make them want to purchase it more than sound that says it is good for you.
- This was useful as it helps me understand that the aesthetics of the chair should be the top priority when it comes to the design of the chair, as this would attract more attention than focusing on the ergonomics side of things.

A little bit of research was done to deliver a simple understanding of what makes memory foam so great. According to Chris Woodford (2020), the way that memory foam works, is that is gives way where pressure is applied taking shape of the applied pressure. When the pressure is removed from the foam, it will return to its original state. An interesting fact about memory foam is that scientific terms is called Vicoelastic, visco from the word 'viscious', meaning that is is reluctunt, and 'elastic' meaning that it returns to its original form. What makes the memory foam, memorise is the fact that it is temperature sensitive, in that it will sink deep due to one applied body heat with the weight. (Pretty interesting stuff)
- This source was really usefull to understanding how memory foam works, I had also found it really interesting when learning new things about memory foam. As to why and how it actually keeps your shape.

Promotional Videos

There was a promotional video made by Secretlab (2020), which is probably the best and closest example to how i would present my promotional video. Only obviously mine will not be to the same stand. It will be low end animation as the idea of my chair does not exist. I really like how the end the video saying 'Invest in comfort' and how the entire video is all does using text and visual examples.
- Very useful as a source of inspiration for the how I will make my video for assignment 2.

The Basilisk Ultimate from RAZER 2021 is the exact same concept in terms of the how the whole presentation of the videos is audio, visuals and text explaining what the product is, while also maintain the its own visual beauty throughout the entire video.
- Very useful as a source of inspiration for the how I will make my video for assignment 2.

The final video reference is an april fools joke from RAZER (2015), about a futuristic hovering mouse concept

1.

Attention - The way I plan on getting the audiances attention is through the use of bright colours and the use of the text to voice translator, alongside a nice background audio which will hopefully grab the audiances attention within the first 5 seconds.

Interest - The audiances interest levels, will be maintained by informing them of all the ways that the product can be customized. The different options will be presented one at a time without clutering too much information on the screen alongside the continuation of the bright colours to keep the audiance engaged.

Desire - The main idea to have the audiance want this product is the fact that it can be completely customizable. Having a completely unique chair that can hug you if you choose to have that addition. But a completely unique chair or having your design made available for your own audiance as a content creator.

Action - The leading point to get the audiance to take action will let them know that they are able to completely create and preview what their chair would look like priior to buying it.

The idea in mind so far is that, the video will start, with a simple 'hey you, yeah you' pop up in the chosen font. With some sort of energetic/happy bouncy up beat hip hop. The text will bounce out of no where, the it will switch to the next scene where the same energy will be kept throughout the entire video. The next part will start by saying 'ever need a hug?', 'but no one is around to provide one?' 'The Hugging chair has got you covered.'

The Video will then continue saying 'The chair comes in multiple colours, completely customizable!' While that is being said there will be cartoony designs of various colours that you can choose to make the chair out of. They will all show as the same animated, palette icon wobbling on the screen in a grid formation. The transisiton to the next part will be a simple swipping animation that will lead to the third part.

Onto the third part there wil be a transition as to what materials you could have the chair made with, such as leather, fabric, memory foam, etc. With a image of leather, fabric, foam with a memory in it. They will be in a single row showing the three respectivly. With text above it saying 'Choose your own materials'. Same wobbling text type thing.

The second to last part present the idea that you can add a custom logo, 'even add your own logo, to represent your brand'. 'Join the partner program and have your own custom design, made public for your community!

The final cut will say 'Create, Preview, Buy', 'hugging functionality, optional at HuggingChair.com'. In rocking bubbly text. All images and colour palettes will wobble very slowly when they appear (The materials and the colours from the third and second part).

During the entire video, there will be audio playing to keep the energy up and all text and imagry will be bright to keep the audiance engaded. There will be voice over but it will be that of the google translate to keep in interesting / Funny

The Idea of my ad essentially, would be to create an energetic, maybe exciting kind of tone. As there is a definitely something be excited about when it comes to a new kind of chair, even more so to this extent. I want the target audiance to be captivated and excited about the new produt. Even take interest in the customization of the product. Make it a really exciting to make it more interesting for the viewer and them potentially advertising it.

In all honesty, I will probaby stick with the 'Bouncy' font, for probably all of the promotional video, as it is very poppy and would work extremely well when used with the chosen colour pallette. It would be great at keeping the tone of the video in bright and energetic vibes.

Colour Palette (Double Split Complimentary)

This is the colour pallete that I believe is idea, as they are all bright and vibrant, which suit the idea of grab the attention of the audiance. The double split colour pallete was chosen to get a wide range of bright colours to keep the audiance enticed, hopefully. Most of the colours will be used with a cartoony kinda of a look and will have a white outline around them, to help make them really pop.

Blue - has been chosen as the colour is often associated with being trustworthy and the inviting.
Yellow - has been chosen as it is associated with happiness and friendliness.
Pink - has also been selected as it is a often used to target a younger audiance, which is really good, before younger people are all about the customizability of products with extensive options to do so.
Green - this colour is usually tied to prosperity, but was mainly chosen as it is bright and fits with the double split complimentary colour pallete.

Changes While Making

Later throughout the project, I had decided to focus of the customizeability of the chair rather than the idea of the hugging factor to it, but to still include it in the end a sneaky extra. So the treatment isnt 100% accurate but it was a great starting point for the overall assignment. But to focus on the higher marketable values of the (potential product). Then have near the end of it present the idea that the chair could have a hugging feature, something like. "Also if you need hug this chair can do it too.

Ever need a hug, will be changed to "want a customer chair?", "At a fun price". Essentially the over arching idea/conept for this assignment has not changed at all, only instead of leading with the hugging feature of the product, that it would be better to equally mention every providable and modifiable feature. Providing a clear idea of what the product will be rather than a peice of what the product will be.
