The post featured the star name-dropping other female artists singing about 'being sexy and wearing no clothes' and almost complaining that they have been successful through doing this rather than singing about 'being in love' the way that she does. Lana even went on to say that she had been a stepping stone for newer artists and given them the freedom to sing about what they please rather than what is popular. She took her own criticism into account when writing as she questioned why she had constantly been accused of glamourizing abuse and they hadn't. As expected she was heavily criticized for this, and I mean heavily. To some, this letter ruined her career.  She was accused of ignoring black history and the work that past black female artists had put in so that women today could have more freedom in the music industry. This damaged her star image terribly and caused many people to see her in a different light.
