Hurricanes form over warm ocean water. When the air turns moist and the water rises it is then turned into cooler air. The cool air will then warm up and start to rise. When this is happening huge storm clouds will form. Then these storm clouds will begin to rotate and then a hurricane is formed.

The reason hurricanes can be so dangerous are because of the high wind speed and the flooding in a certain area. This could result in a lock down that would result in not being able to come out of your house until the flood water lowers and the wind speed decrease.
