-To tie in both art and music, there is a Broadway musical called Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde based off of the Gothic novel itself, created in 1990

They followed as close to the original story line as possible. Today in modern films where Dr. Jekyll was featured, producers used the other side of the character, Mr. Hyde, as an antagonist for the main character to defeat. In another movie, League of Extraordinary Gentleman starring Sean Connery, and ABC's Once Upon a Time, both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are contrasting characters to one another. They both are an interesting mental side to both the show and physical demeaning type where Dr. Jekyll is the sensitive smarter of the two whom the audience cares for.

  •  1890, The Untold Sequel of the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Frances H. Little- a Re-written story that implies that Mr. Hyde was an actual person and that Dr, Jekyll was an actor that tried to portray his alter-ego.
  •  1979, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Holmes, by Loren D. Estleman- Re-telling of the story that brings a theory of Mr. Utterson hiring Sherlock Holmes to investigate the case and discovery of the connection between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
  •  1990, Robert Bloch's The Jekyll Legacy- Sequel from the book in which Dr. Jekyll leaves an Heir and the general idea is that she later discovers the truth of his experiments and lies of Mr. Utterson.     
  •  2001, Ludovic Debeurme's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde- The book is re-written in a format for more younger readers.
  •  2001, Strange Case of Mr. Bodkin and Father Whitechapel, by Elias Keller- A Banker takes the drugs that Dr. Jekyll created and now he released his inner saint.
  •  The 2014 Daniel Levine book- Book is being told in Mr. Hyde's' perspective.

Doctor Jekyll/Mr. Hyde is a public domain character that first appeared in a novel called The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886. With public domain status, the character has been portrayed in numerous versions and ways. He is also the inspiration for characters like the 
Hulk. In the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Jekyll's persona is that of a small man. He is dwarfish in appearance. He is bent and crouched over. As Hyde, he was particularly more violent. He is first seen in the novel trampling a small girl and later he beats a man to death with a cane. Besides himself, this is the only person he kills. He never seemed to have any superhuman abilities other than projecting an aura of fear in mistrust. His very look disgusted and horrified people.
The Jekyll side of Jekyll/Hyde is a super-genius. He is highly educated with a M.D., D.C.L., L.L.D., and F.R.S. among other abilities. He is also an avid scientist who makes the serum that transforms him into Hyde
