         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) by Mayer-Johnson <br><br></strong>Picture Symbols enable students to use a communication board or book to select pictures or symbols to communicate.&nbsp;</div><div><br>- over 7,000 color symbols&nbsp;<br><br>Allows students to express their thoughts and ideas without having to verbally communicate.<br><br>UDL:&nbsp;<br>- enables students to engage and participate in conversations with peers and teachers<br>- students can express their needs in the classroom in order to succeed<br>- allows students with SLI to be represented and have a voice among other students<br><br>The Boardmaker software is used as the picture-based library. These pictures can be used as labels in the classroom, communication displays, adaptive books, schedules, and calendars.<br>- not a burden due to the fact that it enhances communication in the classroom without entirely taking away all communication, but having these pictures to also rely on as visuals.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>GoTalk by Attainment Company <br><br></strong>A Speech-Generating Device (SGD) that allows students to select symbols or words to generate speech.<br>- sort of like Ipads<br>- also watch version available&nbsp;<br>- a little pricey<br><br>Usually, another individual records the words or phrases used by a student when selected to communicate.<br><br>Allows students to select what they want to say and it says it through the tablet in another person's speech. This way, students can actively participate in classroom discussions and are sort of talking just digitally.&nbsp;<br><br>UDL:<br>- students can engage in real conversations and "talk" amongst their peers in real time<br>- tablets express what the student wishes to say when they can't do so themselves<br>- allows a students "voice" to be heard and allows them to be represented in conversations&nbsp;<br><br>Tablets are distributed among students that wish to use them to combat SLI in the classroom. Unlike traditional tablets such as Ipads, these tablets are used for speech generation only.
