This didn't last long though, because after a few months Richthofen was transferred back to the western front where he earned his pilots license. This is also where he was assigned to the Jasta 2 fighter squadron. With this squad he would earn his first aerial victory on September 17, 1916 and quickly go on to get five more and earn the title of "flying ace". A few months later he would be placed in command of his own squadron full of talented pilots named Jasta 11. This effect is linked to legends, books, comic strips, films, and television programs.
