Ability to compare/ contrast two texts in proper essay format with transition words to help with organization and structure and:
an introduction, body paragraphs citing text evidence and a conclusion. 

 What does compare/contrast  mean and look like? -needs to be explicitly explained and modeled.

They must be familiar with the dynamic characterization of the  two characters: Walter Cunningham & Robert Peck

Familiar with the themes of good vs evil, human kindness since it is related to the two characters in the story (one being the narrator)
