The Jigsaw method is a cooperative learning strategy where students are divided into groups, and each member becomes an “expert” on a specific part of a topic. Experts from different groups meet to discuss their area, then return to teach their original group, ensuring everyone learns all parts.

Topic: Free-Time Activities Across Cultures

• Assign texts:

-Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremonies.

-Football Fever.

-Street Art and Skateboarding.

-Dance and Music Festivals

• Experts meet to study their task together and make sure everybody understand the given text.

• Experts return to share the information about their text with their group.

• Groups create a Presentation with the summarise of the different Free-time Activities Across Cultures.

Students are arranged in pairs, seated or standing in a line or circle. Each pair discusses a specific prompt or question for a set time (e.g., 2-3 minutes). When the time is up, one line rotates, creating new pairs.

Students are divided into two teams, with one team arguing for and the other against a given topic. Each team prepares opening statements, arguments, and rebuttals. The debate can include a moderator or jury to guide and evaluate.

One student begins by creating the first sentence of a story. Each subsequent student adds a sentence or paragraph, building on what was previously said. This can be done orally or through a shared digital platform.

Teacher places controversial or thought-provoking statements on walls around the classroom (e.g., “Social media does more harm than good”).

Students move to a statement, discuss it in small groups, and then rotate to the next.

Afterward, each group presents a summary of their discussion.

Role play is an engaging activity where students act out specific roles or scenarios to practice communication, improve confidence, and apply language skills in real-life contexts. This is especially useful when teaching speech, interview, and university application.
