The Treaty of Paris 1783- Ends War with Britain!

On Sept. 3, 1783, Britain and America signed a Treaty of Paris. It ended the Revolutionary War and had a few agreements to it. The Americans, because we won, got favorable terms including telling the British they must return runaway slaves, and get out of the U.S. They also had to pay back any war debts, though so did us Americans. though we won, we were recommended to return Loyalist land, though both sides didn't live up to all of their terms. Britain wouldn't do things like give up all Prisoners and slaves, or give up some military posts. America, because we won are allowed to fish off Canadian Coast, have boundaries as far as the Mississippi and Florida, and most importantly be independent. Both the British and Americans signed the document in Paris, though the British did not want to stay for the official painting. Us Americans think it is because they were embarrassed because the supposedly "best" army in the world lost to the "worst" army in the world.

George Washington (Founding Father) Perspective

Finally! We are separated from that evil country. It was about time! They would always tax us without our consent, and would send troops to occupy OUR houses. We needed to make a living for ourselves and our families, and with all these taxes and having to feed and house troops, made life a bit difficult sometimes. That wasn't all we were mad about. We were mostly mad about them doing it without representation of colonists in Parliament. They closed trade with other countries and we couldn't trade with countries except Britain! And like me and the other founders of America say; "Thirteen wheels require a steady and powerful regulator to keep them in good order…” Basically, the colonies, now states, need a strong and well rounded government, exactly the opposite of Britain to keep THEM well rounded too.

King George III (Loyalist) Perspective

I am appalled with the American's and my generals. They should have been more on top of things. And America. Don't get me started on America. They were under my rule. I am the divine king. "The only reason to be taxing them was to pay back debts that they helped cause because of us helping protect them." This is disgraceful. I feel that they had plenty of say for the betrayal they gave me, by leaving. I was kind enough not to execute them as soon as they started a rebellion. I refuse to give up military posts or give back prisoners and slaves. The slaves wanted to join us and the prisoners rebelled in the first place, and that was a mistake on their part. I still believe Britain is the best, and will remain the best under my fair and generous rule.
