limited animation is were you create animated cartoons without redrawing entire frames, yet you still use common parts through out the frames.

An example of Limited animation is Wallace and Grommet. they were mad by many clay figures they were made all looking different for every scene but they had very small differences between them so that when the images were all put together they would look like the image was moving.

claymation is a method of film animation using adjustable clay figures and stop-motion photography.
Clay animation has been around for as long as the early film era during the early 1900's, the earliest film being released in 1921. however the term 'claymation' was trademarked 1978 by Will Vinton
things like the "shaun the sheep movie" and "Paranorman" and the television series "Pingu" use claymation.
advantages of claymation is that it gives of a 3D effect and also it is very easy to expand on, the disadvantages is that clay can be quite messy and hard to work with especially if you are moving the clay ever so slightly each time as it can very easily fall apart, also claymation can be very time consuming.
Claymation is a type of stop motion animation, Stop motion is an animation technique that physically manipulates an object so that it appears to move on its own so it is essentially when you take a photograph, then move the object ever so slightly and take another, and you do this over and over until you string them all together and play the photos one after another so it appears the object is moving.
