The water that comes up onto land wets the soil and gives it nutrients. Fish and other sea creatures can be caught and eaten, the fish also attract many birds that people can shoot and sell or eat. Colombia also has safe tap water but it is filled with chlorine to keep it clean so most of the country has bottled water at their local stores or markets.
