         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>What were the consequences of the actions by the advocates and critics of slavery.</strong><br>- Uncle Tom's Cabin was a the best evidence pointing to the success of the rebelling slaves.<br>- The Dred Scott Decision was attempting for slaves to sure but it actually was reversed back and affirmed the notion that slaves had no rights.<br>- Lincoln-Douglas Debates was pro slavery and just believed that the government was made on white basis. (Pg. 359)<br>- The <em>Pro-Slavery Argument</em> by John Calhoun was the only way two races could live together in peace. But then the Texas independence included slavery.<br>- The birth of the republican party whom represented the abolitionists.<br>- Texas wasn't allowed to become a free state until Oregon was granted their position in the us.<br>- Know nothing party<br>- Compromise of 1850 were the  provisions of California as a free state and the formation of territorial governments in the other Mexican owned lands.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Manifest destiny will have a different impact between multiple nations and the  three competing nations Britain, Mexico and Spain. <br>- Mexican american was allowed Texas to be established as a state.<br>- Polk is the one who seals the sealed the Mexican american war. <br>- The Texas and Mexican conflict and the Mexican american conflict north of the Rio grande river. <br>- The treaty gets a lot of Mexican north western territory (Arizona and California) for 15 million dollars of debt. <br>- The gold rush leads to the settlement of San Francisco. It was the only reason that California gained enough people to apply for statehood. Not all were whites many were Chinese. Ratio of men to women in California as 3 to 1.<br>- Gadsden Purchase closed Manifest destiny.</div>]]></description>
