Par le terme « Doctor », Debussy y fait directement référence en se moquant gentiment du compositeur, « médecin » des problèmes techniques pianistiques, dont il ne partageait pas franchement les idées sur le plan de l’éducation musicale. On peut imaginer ici Chouchou débutant l’apprentissage du piano. Ce personnage a été créé à la fin du XIXème siècle par Florence Kate Upton, dessinateur Américain, pour illustrer un livre d’enfants.
