Anything that swims in the water can easily die because of pollution in many ways. For example, if you throw garbage in the water, a reptileor bird could easily mistake it for food, and choke and die on it. Also, an oil or chemical spill could drench reptiles and because it is toxic, it could kill them. Some of them take a long time, fancy materials, and strong equipment, but others are quick and small changes that can make a huge difference. One example of this is not bringing single use plastics, metals, glass, etc. out into the water with you, on a boat or floatie, because this is the easiest way that garbage gets left in the water. Whether it falls in or people throw it in or it falls off, it happens all the time. Another great way to help with water pollution is to participate in ocean/beach clean ups, so if pollution does happen at least you are helping get it out of the water. If we continue to allow the water to be polluted, we will soon run out of water to drink, cook with, swim in, etc. At this rate, before our generation is dead, there will be so much polluted water that it will be hard to swim in open water anymore.
