Originally, my parents wanted to name me Nabeel and my brother Khaleel. No idea why it changed, but I am happy it did. The meaning of my name is “good friend.” The name does not hold any meaningful significance other than being mine. It is hard to spell for some and pronounce for others since it is not the typical spelling of my name.

As for my last name, I was born as Christopher Stewart, but I have since taken my husband's last name, Fox. I am estranged from my father, and my husband's family has been incredibly supportive and inclusive. To honor them, I decided to take their family name.

There's more of a story behind my middle names. I have two, Emiko and Ruth. I'm Japanese-Canadian, hence Emiko, and I share that name with one of my grandmothers. I share my other middle name with my other grandmother and my mom.

I have a chinese name, which is 张佩华. This name was picked by my paternal grandparents. The first character is my family name (Zheng), and the middle character means admirable, and hua means flower! This name is only used by my family.

I am the second born out of five daughters, so when I was named my parents still had a list of girl names. My mom wanted to name me a 'strong' name (I have no idea what that means), so she picked Rachel.

My middle name, Mary, is after my great-grandmother. Who had 17 children. I desperately hope that it is not an omen of what is to come for me.

Featured in the picture is my cat Toast; whose full name is Toaster Strudel, and was named as such because it is cute.

My middle name has more meaning "Marie" because on my moms side we alternate between two middle names with each generation for the women. My moms middle name is Maria and my grandmothers middle name is Marie. Fun fact with this way of doing our middle names is that I have the same middle name as my female cousins!

-A since my other sisters also have -A ending first names. She also wanted something that would be able to be said in both French and Italian since that is our background. But also wouldn't be butchered in English.

My last name is my father's last name. It's not super common in the Italian village where he is from, so they would refer to us as the "cipolla's" which is Onion. Unclear why, but that's our family nickname

As for my last name, Google says it's from Scottish descent, but my ancestors must've moved from Scotland a L O N G time ago because as far as I know, my family comes from the Lac St-Jean region in Quebec.

As for my last name, I grew up as Claire Beck. Hulan is my mother's maiden name. My maternal grandparents are from an area of Newfoundland called Mckays. I spent most of my child there, and am very close with my grandparents. In that region, there are two Hulan families: the bunnies and the non-bunnies (don't ask, nobody alive knows). Our family is the non-bunnies. My pop was the only of his siblings to have kids, and my mom was an only child. In Uni, I hyphenated my last name to make sure the non-bunny Hulans remained. Despite the fact that it is always pronounced wrong, I am very proud to carry both my grandparents names.

The first day of my life my name was Paige. The day after I was born my mom decided Sierra fit me better. My middle name Spencer, is the street my parents lived on. My second middle name Francis is after my grandma. My dad is from England and that's where my last name Harris is from.

My middle name is David which is my Grandfather's name (who was also a history teacher!). His name is David Hay and now mine is Hayden David.

My last name... I'm not sure. I should give it a google.

Many people will call me either Riles, Ri, or Taps. When I was younger, a neighbour used to call me Smiley because I was always smiling or laughing.

My mum had always loved the idea of naming a daughter Emily with the middle name being Lloy. Lloy was my great-grandmother's name! Along came me and my dad had his own opinions on that idea... Emily alone wasn't a name that he liked but together with Emily-Lloy, it was a winner!! So my first name became hyphenated and it's what I prefer! But the story doesn't end there, my last name is also hyphenated! My parents combined last names to make Sutherland-Sebo, Sebo is my dad's last name and his family is from Hungary and my mum's is Sutherland, her family is distantly from Scotland.

For my first name my parents thought "it's a great name" (real quote). People who call me by my first name mostly call me Matt, Matthew is mostly reserved for my mama.

In terms of my middle name, my parents wanted to name it after my dad's uncle, who was an amazing guy. His name was Ross Taylor, and they preferred Taylor.

My last name is an Irish surname. Growing up everyone from sports coaches to my friends either called me Mooney or some spin off from it (Moondawg, Moons, etc.). All my high school friends still call me Mooney, so when I hear Matt it sometimes takes me a couple seconds to realize someone's talking to me.

Somehow funny, neither my dad nor my mom know exactly the origin but my mom says one of my aunts suggested. My dad said it's coming from Queen Esther in the Bible which initially means "star". And as the star in christmas, shining for everyone to know the way, "line" (in french), so I am. Esther+line= Esthelline

Molly is a name with Irish origin, it has two meanings, "beloved" and "rebel." I feel it suits me, nurturing is in my spirit– I've always had good luck caring for plants and animals, but I have had an unorthodox path of life. My family is mostly Irish, my mom's family is completely Irish and my dad's is a full quarter.

My last name Andrews comes from the Russian name Andreev. My father's family is mostly Russian, my grandfather was born along the Volga river in 1939. During WW1 my great grandmother and grandfather's family were forced to escape the country after being held in a concentration camp. Their escape led them to Poland where our name was changed to Andreevski, to blend in with other surnames. After their migration from Poland to Germany, and finally to Canada it got localized to Andrews.

It did take me a while to come to terms with my name - I grew up in a small town as part of the only Latin American family there, and having people poke fun at it when I was young was tough. I felt that my parents had let me down with such an obviously ethnic name, but after finally and strengthening my sense of self over the years, I've come to not only love it but embrace it.

Carlos is supposed to mean "free man", and Mom made sure I remembered that as we butted heads along the way - I can't think of another name I'd rather have.

Also, my middle name is Edward and this was pretty much just because my parents wanted to yell "Eduardo!" at me whenever they got mad.

My middle name is Wingyi, and it's the romanization of my Chinese name. My mom says my name mean "beautiful happy face".

There's nothing interesting about my last name, but when I first arrived in Canada all those years ago my parents were deciding if they wanted to romanize my last name in Mandarin (Zheng) or Cantonese (Cheng). The rest is history.
