There are 3 stages of Labor  Delivery of a child. The first stage is early and active labor. At this phase the cervix is dilating from 0-10 centimeters. When a woman reaches 10 centimeters  you are in the second stage and you are able to push.  Failing to progress may end up with the birth being a scheduled or emergent C-section. 
The final stage is the after birth in which the placenta is delivered.

At the end of Labor and Delivery the child is born. Many hospitals have the child remain with their mother and/or father and establish skin to skin contact.

So it  begins! Child development outside the womb.
