What I learned from GE ARTS APPRECIATION Class

Art is basically on of my favorite subject since it enhances my skill in making an artwork. First, I learned something from art history timeline where the people in a certain era will use what they have in order to create the artwork, more like the materials that existed in the era is what they are going to use. Moreover, as the years begin to progress, so as the artworks, art styles, and techniques. From cave paintings to sculptures, use of brushes and crafts. Second, I learned that Art is not just an ART, it is all around us though not nature itself but something that is man-made. I also learned that what seems to be functional is called an art, more like anything that is man-made is art. This connects to artisans and artists - they create something and we all know that art is something that artists create. Third, I learned the importance of principles of design, production process and the use of elements of art. The following are correlated with each other. Elements of art is what constitutes the artwork as a whole and with the help of principles of design, it manages to arrange or compose the elements used. And for finishing, the production is what makes it live, for the world to see. Lastly, with the help of the art activities, I am slowly making a progress in making an artwork. I can easily spot the difference from then and now. That it is very important to learn the concepts, theories, and contributions of Art, artists/artisans, and the processes.

- NARVASA, BRISHANEL E. BSN 1

What i learned about Art is that Art appreciation is the ability to understand and enjoy different forms of art. It involves developing an understanding of the techniques and styles used by artists and being able to recognize the cultural and historical context in which the artwork was created. Like:

Different forms of art: Art comes in various forms, such as painting, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, literature, and film. Each form has its own unique qualities and characteristics that contribute to its aesthetic value.

Elements of art: The basic elements of art include color, line, shape, form, texture, space, and value. These elements are used by artists to create a composition that conveys a certain message or emotion.

Personal interpretation: Art can be interpreted in many ways, and each person may have their own unique interpretation of a particular piece of artwork. Art appreciation involves being open to different interpretations and perspectives.

Overall, art appreciation involves developing an understanding of the techniques, styles, and cultural context of different forms of art, as well as being able to interpret and evaluate artwork from a personal perspective.

How about an overwhelming amount of information regarding the fundamentals of visual art, the artist works and ways to look at art. I learned there are elements and principles that go into creating and appreciating art. Line, shape, form, volume, mass, value, space, color, time and motion are the elements. Contrast, variety, balance, scale, proportion, emphasis, focal point, pattern, rhythm, content, analysis are the principles. First, I had to come to an understanding of what defines art. I found there is no simple definition to define art. Art is an artist creative interpretation or imagination of an art composition.

Art has taught me to be more observant; to see more. I see spaces, lines, colours depth and how they are used and how they relate to each other. I have come to appreciate the spaces between as much as the focal point itself. I take this into other aspects of my life to listen more, to observe more and to be more present. Awareness enhances life.
Details matter. It is the details that make the big picture. Every shadow, every line, every colour, every space, everything matters to the whole. There is no perfection. There is only the best I can do in this moment. Every piece of art that I have ever done could have been done in many different ways. Perfection is really just a prerequisite for procrastination. We know where procrastination leads – nowhere. We must do all we can with the skills that we have and then let it go. Silence and alone time is the best time for new ideas. We live in a very noisy world with so many things pushing and pulling us that it can be hard to think. It can be hard to hear our own thoughts and separate trivialities from substance. Alone time is precious and can lead to our best ideas. I come up with some of my best ideas when I am alone and there are no distractions. Patience is indeed a virtue. A piece of work may not always take the direction I want it to but I work through it and persevere until I have something I can be proud of. Patience is a sort of waiting game and sometimes waiting is not a bad thing

One thing I've learned about the arts is that there is never just one way to approach them. Every artist, whether in music, visual arts, or literature, has a distinct creative process and style that distinguishes them from others. I've learned the value of patience and persistence in creating one's craft from studying the forms, elements, functions of arts to experimenting with my own creations. I've also gained a better understanding of how art may reflect society and historical background. Aside from its aesthetic value, art can be a powerful tool for social change and activism which will help to improve the society as a whole and to help other people to find their own means of creative expressions. Nevertheless, my journey through the arts has taught me to embrace creativity in all it's forms and recognize it's power to inspire and transform lives.

Art is a means to state an opinion or a feeling, or else to create a different view of the world, whether it be inspired by a work by others or something invented that’s entirely new. It is a communication of intimate concepts that cannot be faithfully portrayed by words alone. And because words alone are not enough.

It is important to foster art appreciation and analysis as it helps us value the art in how it appeals to us and what is means to each person. It delves into the history and the story behind the art, as well as a look in into the lives of the artists. Most importantly, however, art appreciation stimulate thoughts and analysis, provokes an individual to look past what meets the eye and open our mind to views of others.

Art is not also paintings , sculpture or poem but it can also be through handcraft just like what I did in my art activity number 3 it has decorations and given materials that can be seen in my surroundings. I also learned that making an art is not about buying expensive materials or tools as long as you have in your surroundings it can be useful. We have this technique to make our arts stylish how we used those element of arts that can be presentable, understandle and communicating to the artist and others . Just like my art activity number 4 it symbolize love I may be so fantizing or very fictional person but I also dream that I am that girl and my partner growing old together and cherish the beautiful and peaceful scenery. Arts is pouring your feelings, emotions your experience or even portraying others. the creativity of your works matters and how you understand.

The greatest lesson in art appreciation is found in the history of art, from the Stone Age to the present. By listening to many opinions and interpretations of the work, as well as varied viewpoints and points of view, art appreciation stimulates thoughtful discussion and the recognition that there are multiple ways to address any problem. I discovered there are components and guidelines for creating and appreciating art. The elements are line, shape, form, volume, mass, value, space, color, time, and motion. The guiding concepts are contrast, variation, balance, scale, proportion, emphasis, focal point, pattern, rhythm, content, and analysis. I needed to first grasp what constitutes art. I discovered that there is no easy way to define art. Art is a creator's imaginative or creative interpretation of a work of art. A composition is a piece of original art (painting, sculpture, or photography).

I've learned that there is more to recognize and comprehend about an artist's work thanks to art appreciation. Throughout this training, I have picked up innumerable lessons that I have applied to my life in a variety of ways. There are many examples of how this course has changed my life and made me see the world in a different way. The tiny blades of freshly cut grass on the lawn and the stars in the night sky, for instance, are both works of beauty. My primary takeaway from the course on art appreciation is that I now pay much greater attention to everything than I would have otherwise. Art appreciation has not only taught me to appreciate the world of art around me, but it has also improved my communication skills. I've learned to appreciate all the various types of art in the world that are all around me, from the colors of the sky and trees to the structures of all the buildings around me and the way things are formed. The artwork comes to life through our perspective as it adapts to each person in its vicinity.

In conclusion, I learn a lot in this subject, especially when I do the coffee painting and the other art activities. Since I really don't like the arts, taking this subject has helped me become more enlightened and has taught me to appreciate both my own and other people's talents. My understanding of life and art is expanded by it. I've become more aware of the various forms of art around me thanks to art appreciation, which has also changed the way I perceive everything. I have grown to respect the artistic method that artists use to produce a work of art throughout this semester. I now value art slightly more after hearing and seeing the lecturer discuss it.

Its meaning and what is impact of arts in our life. Arts also called a design which we can see in our surroundings. And it is made by man.

I have learned how to use art in a creative way and with proper techniques. This may be done through hands or in digital. Using pencil, you can create calligraphy. While making this It relieves problem and made us happy by its design. Digital arts have also unique artwork which we can choose color and shapes. It produces beauty and appreciation towards our love ones, this may use by expressing feelings or emotion through the arts. Otherwise, the arts can express through our imagination. Furthermore, functional arts helps us create things which have the functions or plays useful tool for us. There are social, physical and personal functions. The origami and coffee painting gives us beauty, using any paper fold you can create a small flower vase which can decorate in the table. As well as coffee painting you can put it in your wall for design. And it would have elements of arts. In other word, life is art and whenever we create something, arts is always their which conquers interesting things that beautify in our surroundings. There are many different things to do and techniques to learn and practice. I was also able to express myself in different ways through drawing. Art is the expression of the individual, it can tell the stories of people and it can share information about a topic. It is also able to teach people different things about life and it can affect their feelings on a personal level. This was an enjoyable subject as I was able to get involved in different types of activities and create things that helped me develop as an artist as well as a person. I learned a lot about the importance of the aesthetic and also how different it is from different cultures around the world and how people react to different types of art styles and techniques.

I also learned to make arts, that I thought I am not capable of doing because I am not artistic, but thanks to the art activities that our professor gave Us I am trying to improve my self. It's true that it's hard to create an art especially if you don't know how to convey what you want, but as I am learning with this Subject, I am slowly learning a lot of things.

I learned there are elements and principles that go into creating and appreciating art. Contrast, variety, balance, scale, proportion, emphasis, focal point, pattern, rhythm, content, analysis are the principles. First, I had to come to an understanding of what defines art.

What I've understood from the art appreciation lecture is about the fundamentals of art, the artist's work, and art making processes. I realized that principles and elements go together through making and appreciating art. The elements include line, shape, form, value, texture, color, and space. The principles are rhythm, balance, emphasis, contrast, proportion, gradation, harmony, variety, movement, and unity. I needed to initially learn what constitutes art, then I found that there is no fundamental definition of art. An artist who interprets or imagines a work of art is called an artist. I also appreciated artists who make an effort to define what art is generally speaking or, more precisely, what good art looks like. We have read about famous philosophers and their theories on this subject, and how difficult it may be to deal with the fact that even persons of such high intelligence have different perspectives.

I define art as something created by a person who motivates another person to appreciate it. Each artist incorporates particular fundamental ideas and ideas into their creations. Most of the color element is always used in an artist's creations. When the artist uses curiosity in their work, I find abstract, non-representational art to be intriguing. Even though my abstract art cannot be understood, the colors may arouse my emotions or provide serenity and peace. I'm curious as to how and why a work's colors were influenced by the creator's skin tone. If you've noticed, people have different preferences for and against color.

The importance you give to objects, whether they be in newsprint graphics, museum artworks, or in nature, improves us as people. We now inhabit a more modern, aware, and cognizant environment. Many people believe that viewing art requires going to a gallery or museum, however, art is truly present all around us. Street art, architecture, and even our own homes are all art. Art thus has a role in our daily life. The presence of art is also apparent. It concerns the hidden significance that each piece of art perceives. Only has to grasp the art thoroughly and take a closer look at the details.

The lesson that I learned about this particular subject is that art is a universal language that speaks to the heart and soul. For me, art has the ability to evoke emotions. Through this perspective a good artist or a good artwork is the one that makes us feel something. It's not about the sensations that we percieve but it's about the special chemistry and neurological combination that makes us feel alive. Art appreciation helps to open up the mindset of a person by listening to different perspective and views as well interpretations of the art. It encourages thoughtful and understanding that there is more than one approach to everything. Art is meant to stimulate thought and conversation between audiences. By reflecting on a piece of art we delve into our own experience and nostaglia. Art has beauty, it involves creativity and it has power to inspire, to heal and connect us to ourselves and to others.

However, as I engage in the discussions and activities assigned to us, I am reminded of how versatile art can be. Several tasks have been assigned to us in order to shape our knowledge and abilities in creating artwork. I can see a difference in my perspective on art now, compared to how I used to see it. I've realized that art can be defined in variety of ways. It is useful for expressing oneself and can also be used in any situation as a coping mechanism. I also realized that everything we saw could be considered art. Because something is called an art not only because of its aesthetic qualities, but also because each object serves a distinct purpose. Lastly, art is not just for those who are recognized as someone who can be creative. Art for anyone who wants to experience it.

Art tends to connect to our emotions rather than our intellect or at least stronger than. We can learn to really see, to use our eyes and take in what is there for us to look at. So many colors that we are not aware of; so many patterns in nature. So many changes of light with the sun passing overhead. The artist deals with all of that and if we try to learn art, we must learn to really see. After that, it also motivates us and strengthens our emotions. It is a skill that applies to music, painting, poetry, dance and more. Poetries are audio arts that help the author express their feelings in writings. Moreover, nature is no less than art. For instance, if nature creates something unique, it is also art. In other words, everything in life is artwork. All in all, art is universal and can be found everywhere. It is not only for people who exercise work art but for those who consume it. If there were no art, we wouldn’t have been able to see the beauty in things. In other words, art helps us feel relaxed and forget about our problems.

*In this lesson which is Ge art's, I love arts even I'm not good for it but I have learned that on arts.

-I start in....-

- I learned in What is art: introduction and assumption.

- It meant “any special form of book-learning, such as grammar or logic, magic or astrology” (Collingwood, 1938). 4. ASSUMPTIONS OF ART: v Art is universal – Art has always been timeless and universal, spanning generations and continents through and through. ... Art is man's way of interpreting nature.

-Three assumptions on art are its universality, it's not being in nature, and it's need for experience.

-Without experience there is no art. The artist has to be foremost, a perceiver who is directly in touch with art or Art is something being experience. As art cannot be done without feeling. Thus we are being passionate in doing it. In regards that Art is universal. Art is not nature, and Art is everything we see.

*Function of art's

- I learned function of art normally fall into three categories. These are personal, social or physical functions. These are the categories can, and often do, overlap in any given piece or art.

(•Personal function:

▪︎ to express personal feelings. Perhaps the artist wanted to remind viewers of personal family tragedy, or perhaps he just wanted to tell them to appreciate what they had, and to live each day as if it were their last.

•Social function:

▪︎ to reinforce and enhance the shared sense of identity of those in family, community, or civilization, for example, festive occasions, parades, dances, uniforms, important holidays or events

•Physical function:

▪︎Paintings and buildings can both be symbols, but buildings also serve a physical function. Many objects have both physical and aesthetic duties. Architects, Industial and Graphic Designers, Interior Decorators-all of these professionals have to balance form and function.)

- Art, at its simplest, is a form of communication. As most forms of communication have an intent or goal directed toward another individual, this is a motivated purpose. Illustrative arts, such as scientific illustration, are a form of art as communication.

*What i learn in lesson 3 artists and artisans: Production Process,Medium, technique

- Is artists and artisan they are both skilled creative and artistic...They are also both started on handmade arts before being professional. And also Artists focus on creating aesthetically pleasing works, while artisans' work focuses on accessorizing and functionality more than aesthetics. The work of artists tends to be shown in museums or galleries, while artisans sell their crafts at fairs and shops.

The right medium and technique is important inorder to effectively convey your message to your spectators.

Art is not just about self-expression but also communication. It is important that you communicate yourself, your ideas and feelings, into your artwork as how you would pour your soul into it. This can only be achieved by thorough use of the elements, principles and medium which you are most comfortable using.

Only if it makes sense to you can it also make sense to others, though not literally. As an artist, you have to make your spectators react and think. Let them interpret the artwork from the very depths of their minds and hearts. Just like how you are able to portray the inner desires and demons in one drawing or painting, you then show them to the world inorder to tell the story and inspire.

*I learn also in Elements of Arts.

- That the elements of art are the building blocks used by artists to create a work of art. They are color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value. The ten common principles of art are balance, emphasis, harmony, movement, pattern, proportion, repetition, rhythm, unity, and variety. Many of these concepts are not only related to one another but also overlap to create an artistic vision. And Elements of art are stylistic features that are included within an art piece to help the artist communicate. The seven most common elements include line, shape, texture, form, space, colour and value, with the additions of mark making, and materiality.

And to summary it all is Art can take many forms, from paintings to sculpture to music. It’s unique in its ability to tell a story, to touch people in different ways, to create a connection and to make us human.

We all seem to be drawn to art, even as kids. When we are young, we start making art as soon as we can hold a crayon. Our creations might as well be next Mona Lisa in the eyes of our parents. Of course, no one else is likely to share that perspective, but that is the power of art.

Thank you miss you for your patience and knowledge to give to us miss, Goodbless and take care.

Miss.
Ma.Lizabeth D. Villamor💕

The past two months has been quite a fruitful journey. Especially for students such like myself who doesn't have a spark of creativity and just usually avoid any sort of art activity, I have come to realize how fun art, or the process of making art, can be, even if I am not really good at it. At such a short while, I got to learn many different aspects of art, starting from its history, definition, and all the way to its functions, principles and elements. I have learned how art can be described as an expression of an artist's creativity, imagination, and emotions through various mediums such as painting, sculpture, music, dance, literature, and film. It is an embodiment of human experience, culture, and history and is subjective since it can be interpreted differently by different people. During the course of these lessons, I realized that art has been a part of human culture since the prehistoric era, as evidenced by cave paintings and other ancient artifacts. It has also evolved over time and has been influenced by various historical and cultural movements. The principles of art, such as balance, contrast, and emphasis, help artists create aesthetically pleasing and visually engaging works. The elements of art, such as line, shape, and color, are the building blocks that artists use to convey their ideas, emotions, and messages. Overall, art is a complex and multifaceted concept that is an embodiment of human experience, culture, and history.

And different functions of art, before I thought at was all grouped together meaning similar things, but art has different purposes. It can be therapeutic, functional or just aesthetic.
I've seen coffee paintings before but never attempted, it's harder than I thought but fun to experiment with the shades of the coffee and layering the colours to create more detail and depth.
I enjoy digital art, is something I do for fun and although I'm not that good, it's convenient and less messy. Moreover, art is an expression of human experience, and this interrelationship creates a stronger connection between art and humanity. This connection allows art to evoke intense and powerful emotions within us. Seeking and finding art in the world has opened my eyes to all the wonderful things in the world. Since taking this subject, I have been exposed to art at home and at school. I learned that once a work of art is complete, its style, form and content are expressed by the artist and interpreted by the viewer. While a wide variety of styles and forms of art are used by different artists, the meaning of art has changed as we realize that individual viewers are free to have their own opinions and thoughts about the work.

I've learned that art encompasses a wide range of works, from paintings to sculptures, architecture to design, and in modern times, digital art. This realization came to me after taking GE Arts for two months. Everyone can enjoy and be in awe of art, and because art is inherently subjective, different art genres appeal to various demographics. It can be very subjective and based on a person's personal preferences and interests, or it can be done on the basis of a variety of factors, such as the design and technical skill that went into the creation of the piece. A more thorough examination of the context, historical significance, and background of the work as well as a study of its roots are all part of the enjoyment of art.

I've come to understand that art is dynamic, with new trends and aesthetics appearing frequently. The goal of art is to elicit thought and discussion from its audience. A work of art has a different meaning for every individual who encounters it because when we reflect on it, we delve into our own experiences and memories. By encouraging thoughtful conversation and the realization that there are multiple ways to approach every problem, art appreciation helps people broaden their perspectives. This is done by encouraging them to listen to various points of view and interpretations of the artwork.

Studying GE Arts for two months made me realize that I can express myself via art, and it helps me to listen to and go inside of myself to understand who I am and what matters to me. It links me to my inner ideas, inner feelings, inner perceptions, and my experiences and outward reality. Learning through and about the arts enhances my academic experience and helps me get ready for life after school. Arts education fosters creativity and self-expression, and it can increase self-assurance and personal identity.

We just need some time to think what kind of art we going to make. Art is a potent tool that can be used to work through difficult issues that may arise in life. It enables us humans to conceive of potential solutions and put those ideas to the test on their contemporaries.
“Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.” – Andy Warhol.

Throughout the lessons in GE ARTS, the most important thing that I realized is that it isn't necessary to hold a degree in Fine Arts in order to consider oneself an artist. Anyone who is brave and diligent enough to try to express themselves through an artwork, regardless of skill level, has the right to be called an artist. Afterall, "art" is a subjective word that can mean differently to different people. There are no boundaries to art, just as there are no boundaries to human creativity.
