Rosa Parks was the one who created this, due to when she didn't give up her seat for a white person.

This took place in Montgomery,Alabama.

It happened on December 1st, 1995 - December 20th, 1956

This was to protest segregated seating.

Everything was segregated for blacks and whites. I mean EVERYTHING. You can pretty much say Rosa Parks was tired of all the racism and segregated seats and everything, so she started the whole "Montgomery Bus Boycott" because she refused to give up her seat to a white person.

Freedom Rides

A group of Sydney University students called "Students for Aboriginal Rights" led by Aboriginal Students Charles Perkins and Gary Williams.

It was a series of bus trips through the American South to protest segregation in interstate bus terminals.

It happened when 7 blacks and 6 whites left for Washington D.C. bound to the South, in 1961.

Dates: May 4th, 1961- September

13th African-Americans and whites wanted to protest the the segregation in interstate bus terminals.

Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr, was assassinated on April 4th, 1968, Memphis, TN

One interesting fact that I honestly knew is that he was shot when he was on the balcony with his three friends who he was going to have dinner with.

Bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church

The bombing happened on September 15, on a Sunday morning. It killed four young girls and many others were injured.

Three members of the KKK were the ones that bombed the church on the Sunday morning while those 4 girls were attending Sunday services.

The church was a large church located downtown, where African Americans had meetings, lecture hall, and social center. Birmingham was the most segregated city in the United States in April 1963.

Little Rock Central Highschool

Governor Orval Faubus ordered trops to prevent African Americans from enrolling into Little Rock Highschool.

Why? Central High School was an all white school.

This happened in the fall of 1957.

Mississippi Freedom Summer, 1964

in 1964 CORE and SNCC organized a voter registration drive. Which is the Mississippi Freedom Summer.

It wa a project to register as much blacks to vote in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting.

They also have a film of this, it was created on January 17,2014.

Michael Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, and James Chaney were involved.

Robert Moses proposed the idea of the Freedom Summer.

March on Washington, 1963

On March 28, 1963 more than 200,000 americans gathered to for a political rally in Washington D.C. for Jobs and Freedom.

The first march was proposed by A. Philip Randolph, in 1941. This march was inspired by the speech of Martin Luther King Jr, "I have a dream" .

Selma, Alabama 1965

Martin Luther King Jr, made Selma, Alabama, the focus to register black voters in the South. They marched three days to Montgomery. Due to this march it helped raise awareness for blacks to vote and the Voting Rights Act was passed later on that year.

Civil Rights Act of 1964

The Civil rights act was what ended all segregation places, banned employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

President Lydon B. Johnson, signed the Civil Rights Act of 1864 with atleast 75 pens.

For decades, congress did not pass a single Civil Rights Act. (1865-1877)

In 1957, it established a civil rights section of the Justice Department, along with a Commission on Civil Rights to investigate discriminatory conditions.

Kennedy said that the United States "will not be fully free until all of its citizens are free."

Kennedy was assassinated that November in Dallas, that's when new president Lydon B. Johnson took over and made the Civil Rights Act get approved.

James Meredith and Ole Miss

September 1962 an African American man named James Meredith attempted to enroll in a University in Mississippi. Chaos broke out in the Ole Mississippi Camp, with leaving two people dead, hundreds wounded, and many other arrested.

Meredith with the help of NAACP filed a lawsuit against the University of Mississippi alleging racial discrimination.
