Can you think of a time guilt clouded your conscience?
Four years ago my family brought home two puppies named waffles and flapjacks. I hated flapjacks so much but my sisters loved him so we kept him around. One day I got tired of cleaning up after him so I fed him a chocolate brownie, and he got so sick that we had to take him to the vet, and he never came back. My sisters still don’t know what happened to him and everytime they bring it up I feel guilty because I knew what I did was wrong and I never told anyone. This relates to the story because Mayella felt guilty during the trial because she knew what really happened but was afraid to speak up about it and tell the truth because she feared the consequences, same as I did.

Have you ever had to deal with a rude adult and still have to respect them?
When I was a small kid used to go to this daycare; it was probably the worst place ever to put your child. The adults there were rude and would frequently be little and bully the kids. From calling little kids fat stupid and ugly; to taking towels, shoes, books, pencils, plates and beating or thwoing them at the kids. They had kids stand out in the rain and wouldn’t let them in even if they peed themselves. Kids were getting fed whatever they had around. With no consideration at all for their allergies and well being. They allowed kids to get bullied and beat up by other kids as well. Saying that it was their fault for being there in the first place. But being the person that I was, I was raised with some common sense and manners. Therefore I couldn’t talk and whack them senseless.

This relates to Aunt Alexandras meeting with Scout and Jem. Even though they were being rudely talked too, they still had to have some composure and at least ACT respectfull.

“I didn’t ask her I asked you-“ Atticus turned his head and pinned me to the wall with his good eye. His voice was deadly: “Firsr, apologize to your aunt.” “I’m sorry, Aunty,” I muttered”. (page 181).

Our neighbor was raised to believe women should be housewives and the lady took it out on us. She would tell us our mom was not a real woman and other hurtful things. But since the lady was our neighbor, we still had to respect her whenever we saw her.

TKAM Relationship
Mrs. Dubose was very mean to scout and Jem because of something Atticus has done and she called Atticus named and disrespected their family and she would say it to scout and Jems faves but because she was an old lady they had to respect her .

Mon Patrick & Anahi
Have you ever been blamed for something you didn’t do?

One time I was at a mall and as I was casually walking down an aisle, a shiny pair of black shoes caught my attention. A man beside was looking at the same pair of shoes. He approached the shoes, wanting to steal them. Then a sales lady walks by with the man seeing it. He immediately walked the opposite way and made it feel like nothing happened. The woman then approaches me with suspicion and blames me for trying to steal the pair of shoes. This relates to the case between Tom and Mayella Ewell. Tom is telling that he didn’t rape Mayella but the Ewells kept telling the judge that Tom did rape Mayella. Tom got falsely accused of a crime.

I was fustrated and angry but I had to be respectful due to being on school grounds. This relates to scout and her situation with Ms. Caroline, because as she displays rude and oblivious conduct to scout about her telling that she shouldn’t be learning from her father anymore. Although ,scout kept her respect towards miss Caroline when speaking with her.

The cop automatically assumed we were trespassing and started asking us questions in a rude manner. We offered to show him my friend’s apartment but he didn’t wanna believe us. I called him dude on impulse and he just went off on me about “respecting those with authority” despite the fact me and my friend were mature about the whole thing.

Lloyd & My’kael- Honestly when I was younger I was an outcast. In order for me to try and fit in with the “cool kids” I would occasionally exaggerate certain stories such as when there was a fight at school with simple pushes and no punches thrown, I made it seem like a MMA event. This relates to Kill a Mocking Bird because it resembles how Scout always tried to fit in with her brother.

Scout went through the same thing with miss dubose- she was a rude adult that scout had to learn to respect

So I jumped the fence to get the ball but unfortunately for me they had a dog that wasnt very kind to humans so basically chased me so I ran and jumped the fence back and this situation closely resembles atticus finch risking everything, including his social status and family name to help out Tom Robinson, and attempt to bring justice to this innocent man.

For instance Tom Robinson in TKaM was falsely accused of a crime he obviously didn’t commit judging on how Bob Ewell and Mayella Ewell acted on the witness stand. Even though Atticus knew that Tom would be accused no matter what due to his skin color he still tries to fight for Tom and make things right in favor of his own well being.
