  - Will require research and case studies, capable of doing these will and will help expand my skillsets.

• I already have access to all the resources I definitely need, but would probably want access to a variety of musicians to create realistic sounds. Can draw upon past experience of composing such as work I did for last years WB07 module and the string arrangements I have done for my own 'pop oriented' music.

2) Form and grow a function band, with the aim of creating a brand image, website and portfolio to begin booking gigs.

• Allows me to build a show reel with compentent professional musicians, as well as expanding my network of musicians. Gives me the chance to understand client facing work and how it functions. First step into an income stream I plan to use throughout the future.

• Skillsets

  • Drum technique is high enough standard for function work

  • Networking - Needs work, need to expand work and find musicians

  • Repertoire retention - Im good at learning repertoire, but never as much as 60 songs before.

• Have located a bassist and guitarist. Need to find a vocalist and ideally another guitarist or keys player. I can draw from my experience leading bands and ensembles, as well as my time in pit band to aid with my repertoire learning.

3) Compose a portfolio of music based in music for media, across various genre's, focusing on applying for further education and having a displayable body of work.

• Allows me to apply for further education, as well as being an opportunity to expand my comfort of working in various genres and styles. Gives me a foundation of work to present when networking and looking for jobs within the industry.

• Skillsets

  - Composing - Comfortable composing in both sheet music and DAW.

  - Need to improve my time management when composing, focusing on moving forwards rather than nitpicking for perfection, Can correct later.

  - Genre Diversity - I have a fairly competent grasp of a variety of genres, but will need to build on this and have more confidence in more styles.

• Already have DAW and composing tools. Probably need a better MIDI keyboard to aid in the process, however. I plan to pull on previous experience working with ensembles (Both traditional and modern), such as directing concert bands.

The major takeaways I found from my interview with Finn were as follows:

• Time:Work Ration. Currently it takes me around 3 hours to produce 1 minute of music. It takes Finn and his peers roughly 1 hour per 30 seconds to a minute of music. I need to increase my work speed, though this may come with more comfort in my skills and refinement of workflow.

• Networking. A lot of what Finn said about working with clients stemmed from understanding their 'vibes' and the dynamic of working with them. The more I can network and practice gelling with clients and professionals, the better off I will be

A key instrument in this composition is the overdriven celeste. I wanted to experiment with a new sound, while retaining the familiarity of a large orchestra. The piece could easily be played without the overdrive, and may well sound better, but I enjoy the result and it gies me confidence to experiment with more unconventional effects in the future.

To me, the creeping strings feel quite cliche and take away from the immersion, but this could easily be a mixing and panning issues. Placing them further back in the mix, or quieter, may add the creeping tense effect without having an almost comical presence.

If I were to revist the track, or make another of a similar nature, I would focus on making the 8 bit style synthesiser the more prominent melodic instrument.

The following 1.5 months will be spent recording, mixing, and mastering my chosen works, while seeking peer review and feedback.

This feels to me like the first track in which I have understood repetition and development of themes. I think I have taken it to the extreme here, repeating and developing the same theme for a long time, but I feel I am making progress.

Additionally, towards the end of the project I lost my grandfather, a close family member who's passing massively detriment my work, as well as the mental toll it took on me, I had to travel to see family and lost access to a large portion of my composition and song writing tools. I appreciate and understand that in a professional setting I would still be expected to provide an alternative solution to the work required, or simply complete it even when navigating a difficult situation. This is why at the beginning of next year I will be placing in failsafes and schedules in case of major difficulty (Such as major illness, Bereavement, etc.)
