After rereading how you used sources in your problem solving essay, do you think there is anything you could change? Would you say that you build off of your sources instead of just mentioning them?

In my problem solving essay, we included a very long direct quote from one of our sources. Many classmates said that they found this quote to be way too long and began to just skim over it instead of reading it. I think it would be better to just paraphrase this source instead, so the readers still get the idea without the lengthy quote.

So far, I think I've mostly just referenced or paraphrased the information from my sources to support my writing instead of directly quoting it. This did help me to see ways to use more of my primary research information when we get it though.

We know that people don't want to read boring or unnecessary sources and so we use one's which really make us think deeper about the situation and hope using them in our essay will make the readers think the same way.

I think this is an interesting topic that I had never really considered before this presentation. I think that a lot of essays that I peer edited had a lot of quotes that took away from the author's own voice because they were not integrated well. I think that is one reason why I tend to avoid using quotes. I think that in our paper we used a good mix of quotes and paraphrases, but still were able to keep authority in our writing.
\

I find that I sometimes use sources as filler instead of having a purpose. I do incorporate them into my work but I do not use them in a way that will strengthen my paper all the time. I think this stems from the pressures put on me in high school with writing and having to meet certain requirements. We were never properly taught how to correctly use sources until now.

I have fallen victim to several of the pitfalls mentioned, especially when a source isn't integrated completely right, so it doesn't read smoothly, or create the desired effect I'm wanting from the reader.
