Christmas is not a movable date and is always on December 25. Christmastide, which is at the beginning of the liturgical year, begins with First Vespers of Christmas on the evening of December 24 and ends with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. Traditionally, the end of Christmastide was February 2nd, also known as Candlemas.

The hanging of a Christmas Tree is a very active Christmas practice and is used to symbolize the Tree of Life on Calvary and in The Garden of Eden. There is also a special Christmas Eve Mass every year on Christmas Eve at midnight that celebrates the birth and coming of Jesus Christ. There are many different prayers such as prayers for peace, thanks, and a prayer that blesses the Christmas Tree. There are also so many different devotions worldwide that people can choose from and pray throughout the season of Christmas.

The real focus of Christmas should be on Jesus Christ, the most important gift we will ever receive. God gifted us His only son to save us from our sins and lead us to eternal life. Christmas is a time to be thankful to God for all the gifts He gives us, and a time to give to others.

There are many songs sung during Christmas, but Joy to the World is one major song that is especially used on Christmas day. Joy to the World is used and sung to show the joy we should express that Mary brought Jesus, God's own Son, into the world. This song also shows our thankfulness and gratitude that God sent a savior to save us from our sins.
