         <description><![CDATA[<div>François-Marie Arouet better known as Voltaire.&nbsp;<br>He was born November 21st, 1694 in Paris, France.&nbsp;<br>He died May 30th, 1778 in Paris, France.&nbsp;<br>He never married nor fathered children.&nbsp;<br>Considered one of the greatest Enlightenment writers.&nbsp;<br>In 1704 he was enrolled at the College Louis-le-Grand.<br>He received a classical education and began showing promise as a writer.&nbsp;<br>He wrote poetry and plays, as well as historical and philosophical works.&nbsp;<br>His most well- known poetry includes&nbsp;<em>The Henrade&nbsp;</em>and&nbsp;<em>The maid of Orleans,&nbsp;</em>which he started writing in 1730 but never fully completed.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Baron de Montesquieu (Charles-Louis de Secondat) <br><br>Born January 18, 1689 in Bordeaux, France. Died February 10, 1775 in Paris, France <br>&nbsp;At age 11 he was sent to Oratorian Collége de Juilly near Paris to study literature, and the science. He went on to take up law at the University of Bordeaux and began working in Paris after graduation. <br>In 1714, he became councilor to the Bordeaux parliment; in 1715 he married Jeanne de Lartigue <br>In 1716, his uncle died leaving him land and titles as the Baron de La Bréde and de Montesquieu. <br>Books he wrote included: <em>The Spirit of Laws&nbsp;</em>&nbsp;(banned by the Catholic Church),&nbsp;<em>Persian Letters, Considerations on the Causes of the Greatness of the Romans and their Decline, The political theory of Montesquieu, Oeuvres complètes de Montesquieu</em></div>]]></description>

When he was older, he became a philosopher and a songwriter. His first philosophical work, A Discourse on the Arts and Sciences, discussed how science and arts had caused the corruption of virtue and morality.&nbsp;<br><br>He later died at the age 66 from a horrible stroke in&nbsp;Ermenonville, France</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>He created the plays Mahomet, Oedipus, Nanine, Mariamne, Rome Preserv'd, &amp; Brutus<br>He was influenced bu John Locke, William Shakespeare, Issac Newton, and cicero&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;He was a writer, historian, &amp; philosopher&nbsp;<br>Most famous for advocating freedom of religion, expression, and separation of church &amp; state.&nbsp;<br>He was the youngest of 5&nbsp;<br>He learned Greek &amp; Latin and became proficient in English, Spanish, &amp; Italian.&nbsp;<br>He was exiled in 1715 to Tulle for making fun of the regent of Orleans.&nbsp;<br>He returned to Paris in 1717 and was arrested again.&nbsp;<br>At the time of his death, the French people had begun to consider him as a hero and a literary genius. </div>]]></description>
