Thomas King uses the word "Blackfoot" for pride because in the text it saids, ""Blackfoot," my mother told him. "Ma'am?" "Blackfoot," my mother repeated" (King 135). This shows pride because her mother is not embarrassed of saying she is Blackfoot because its an indigenous tribe.

This shows the generational differences between Laetitia and the mom. The mom believes that they don't need anything more than the reservation, while Laetitia looks for more outside of the reservation.

"My sister who had left the reserve, moved across the line, and found a job. Laetitia has not left home with my mother's blessing" (King 131). This shows generation differences because Laetitia's mother didn't leave the reserve but her daughter did. This shows how different generations tend to do things and how far they go out of their comfort zone.

After reading lastnight the mother kept saying saying she/they were "BlackFoot" when the guards had asked "Canadian or American" which blackfoot stands for an Native American tride that they are tied to (King 143).

"blackfoot". it would have been easier if my mother had just said "Canadian" and been done with it" (king 135). I chose this quote because it shows she's very prideful of her culture .

"The next morning my mother drove to the American border" (King 140). The reason her going back to the border even when she was denied is pride is because it demonstrates that she persevere. Someone who is prideful in themself or confidence don't give up, and the mom did not give up and kept going back.

in pages 140-143 the mother and the son showed humility because they didn't back down and give up they sat there in their car being patient and not fusing and yelling adout them not being able to cross over.

''Blackfoot I know said the woman and i'd be proud of being blackfoot if I were blackfoot but you have to be American or Canadian''. This is humility because he doesn't know what to say
