Advice for BHHS

Bishop Hartley is built upon six pillars, Faith, Service, Community, Leadership, Spirit, and Preparation, each of which is the foundation and example each student possesses as a student here. The most important pillar being Faith. Faith is what we hold in our hearts throughout our lives. We grow our faith as we grow as high school students, learning and failing, studying and praying, crying and smiling, all four years at Hartley will be a Rollercoaster and for most of you-- they already have been. My advice to each of you would be to hold onto the faith. The fundamentals is what we never forget, being set on our goals and looking towards our peers, our family, and most importantly God for guidance is what we do. It's almost a second nature as Catholics to look toward the Lord for help when we need it-- or it should be. It's important to remind ourselves to slow down and remember who gives us all that we need which is God and come to him with thanks and glory.

identify three fictional outreach programs you think your CF would endorse (50 words)

One of Father Origens' outreach programs would be a type of donation drive. It would be called "Origen of Charity" Since he had a negative attitude towards the material world he would have everyone in the church give something up for the drives.

Second, he wrote a good number writings and was a productive author in his time he would do workshops to help kids learn to read and write. Called the Orgiens writer workshop.

His third would be a "School of Theology". Where he oversees the rigorous investigation of religious belief and the essence of the divine more generally. It is often taught as a subject in colleges and seminaries.

Why we picked Origen

We randomly picked Origen because we did not know who to pick and most options were already chosen. But in choosing Church Father Origen, we learned that he faced a lot of trauma in his life through his father being beheaded. But that did not instill fear in his heart because he announced his faith with pride. He inspires many to do the same in their own faith lives.

Have your CF had a fictional discussion with St. Helen or St. Monica--what might they have said to each other (100 words)?

Father Origen: I don't understand why creating a theological church is so difficult

Saint Monica: What the problem

Father Origen: They don't believe in my teachings of nature as the embodiment of the Christ, we need to come to an agreement before the building is finished

Saint Monica: Well we all have to deal with that in life, But you always have to try and think about what would Christ do and reason with them. Maybe try to have a calm discussion about how to go about teaching in the school.

Father Origen: Maybe, Thank you
