Metal spoon activity

The main activity starts after the warm up which is a great way to get the students brains working before the main activity and give them an idea of what they are in for.
The activity with the metal spoon gives the students a chance to be with each other in the environment and get to witness first hand how heat is transferred.
As an additional part of the activity the teacher could give the students an ice cube to sit on their spoon during or after it has been heated to show that the heat from the spoon is being used to melt the ice, therefore showing another version of heat transfer between objects.
When the students are asked to create a PowerPoint of their findings/results they are incorporating ICT components without even realising it. Gaining computer and Microsoft skills is very important for the students future and by participating in this activity that is exactly what they are doing.

By the students having to take photo and video evidence it incorporates the ICT part of it as they are learning to use technology

There may need to be further participation of this type of activity undertaken by the class depending on the results or the students interest in the activity. This activity can branch off to many other Science and Technology lessons along with english, PDHPE, history and much more.
