Warm ups

One of the tasks which was set by the choreographer was leading one single warm up for my fellow dancers before one of the rehearsal, therefore another task was to make sure as a dancer that I took responsibility of warming up independently if needed for example before the performance.

Priti Ramjee (n.d) highlights that "Dancers who take the responsibility of warming-up before classes, rehearsals and performances can prevent injuries" this suggests that as a dancer a main task through rehearsals and performances was ensuring that my body was warm.

To ensure my body was warm enough, I made the warm up 10 minutes long to enable a full Boyd warm up to prevent injuries and allow me and the dancers to dance to the fullest of our abilities.

I completed this task to the best of my ability, my warm up was a good length and included cardio and stretching. With my completing this task I need receive feedback for next time which was to include a work out for the abdominals as every other muscle was worked through the warm up apart from the abdominals.

Here is the link to the video evidence;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TVxPmmc2m4&list=PL3PmoLMBBeu39Q2nSiknabm_6lHKAeORs&index=5

Reference List
Work - Chron.com. n.d. Responsibilities of a Dancer.

Following on from developing a solo, when rehearsals started me and another dancer developed our solos to create a duet, as there is two queens in chess. This task was set by the choreographer to create more movement and combined movement which we already had to make it one piece, furthermore after developing movement and solos, as a group we decided to make this section of the performance like a battle between the queens.

This task was completed, however it was not completed in the time frame as movement was still been developed in late rehearsals, next time to be more effective I will make sure time is used wisely. Furthermore the task was completed and the movement and the idea of a battle was conveyed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeET2eaKtqw&list=PL3PmoLMBBeu15fzjIQt3ZqK-5wkpEgM_v&index=28

Attending Rehearsals

Another task which wasn't set but as a dancer should be taken on board was to attend rehearsals which were set by the choreographer. "Most dancers spend the day in rehearsals and have a performance on the night (CareerExplorer, 2021)" this suggests as a dancer rehearsals will be set for the day which will need every dancer to attend to enable movement to be put together. (The Importance of Rehearsals - Dancers Gallery, 2015) states that "Attending sheduled rehearsals is critical to the success of the dances and to insuring our audiences enjoy the beauty of dance" this suggest that all dancers should attend rehearsals to enable the dances to come to life, and will allow the audience to enjoy the beauty of the performance which is put on.

I completed this task to a very high standard as a dancer I took this task as my responsibility and made sure that all scheduled rehearsals I was present, furthermore when being present in these rehearsals I was focused and ready to create a performance.

Reference List
Careerexplorer.com. 2021. What does a dancer do? - CareerExplorer.

Initial idea

As a group the initial idea was doing a performance about board games this was going to be all different types of board games for example: monopoly, stratego, risk, scrabble, battleships and chess however this concept was going to be too big for the time we had.
Through multiple conversation we decided to narrow it down to just one game which was chess, the reason I was very interested in chess was because I saw a dance piece which was very similar on a TV show. After seeing dancers performance this piece which is linked down above, I thought as a group we could make the performance longer and more detailed through dance and different art forms.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtjVvia1x38

Creating rhythms

As a group of dancers we decided to create rhythms for the first section. The choreographer put us in pairs and set us a task of creating a rhythm of 8 counts, after creating a rhythm we will then set a task of adding movement to the rhythm which was created before hand. After creating rhythms in pairs we decided to put together all the rhythms created and try different rhythms at different times to create the first section.

From doing this task, me and my pair completed this task to the best of our abilities and our rhythm was developed through this rehearsals and executed very well.

Another task which was set by the choreographer was creating movement which allowed us to move the boards whilst a fellow dancer performed a solo. This task took a couple of try as we needed to create movement to move them but also needed to make sure the fellow dancer was performing whilst this happened. This task was completed throughout the rehearsal, it wasn't completed to the best as we could not create movement to enable the boards moving and being able to be placed down where we wanted.
