-It combines three technologies: cordless telephone, telegraphy and transmission waves.
-Radio waves were discovered in 1860 by the Scottish physicist James Maxwell, but these were only developed in 1886 by Heinrich Hertz. He showed the rapid variation of electrical current in the form of radio waves in space. So Marconi defined radio signals on a phone line and called it a wireless telegraph.
-The first radio broadcast took place in Dublin during a sporting event, but it only transmitted signals and not the voice. In 1901, Marconi received the Nobel Prize in Physics.
-There was a legal dispute between Nikola Tesla and Marconi in which Tesla claimed the patent for the radio.
-The voice transmission took place in 1921. The first transmission that united voice and music was in 1906 in Massachusetts in the United States. 
-The First World War was an important factor to spread the radio and many stations were opened, reaching 550 stations in 1922. The radio only became popular after 1927, as there was a lot of difficulty in tuning in stations.
