My teacher would explain a math problem and different situations and we had an active discussion about how we would handle the specific learning environment. 

In my film classes we had a very open learning style it was probably all considered active learning. She would teach us a lesson and as part of the lesson we would do classroom chants where we would take turns between her saying phrases and us saying phrases. She even broke us down in to smaller groups so that she knew we were all learning the material.

Another class that teaches similar to this is my math classes, we would always learn a little and then stop and make sure everyone understands before moving on to a different section. Sometimes she would give us the materials we needed for a lesson and she would let us work in partners/groups to figure out how to operate equipment or complete a certain task. This learning style was usually effective because she chose her lessons wisely.

Another class that I would always work with partners in was called lifespan development. It was a relatively easy course so we could partner up and work through the chapters on our own. This acted as an electronic portfolio for the film students and it was the best school assignment I have ever had. It definitely showed me that I had gotten better over the years and it meant so much to us that our teacher saved all of our assignments from the past four years, she was truly amazing.

Another experience I had with this was in art class also in high school. We kept a physical portfolio that held all of our work the entire time we took art classes. My English teacher in 9th grade made us have these debates about readings we had done the night before. For the most part students did very well but me I was terrified, so much so that I did not say a single word in these debates because the other kids in my class were brutal. This teaching style was weird to me because it did not involve the teacher at all.

Probably a better experience I had with this one was only recently. In my first or second English class in college we had debates over our readings but they were absolutely hilarious. This one kid would always be cracking a joke or encouraging others when they were on a roll or when they were scared.
