Syria plans to sign the Paris Agreement, which would effectively make The United States the only country on Earth to be excluded ; That is, if Donald Trump follows through on his promise to leave the deal. The Trump administration will now most likely rethink his announcement that we would leave the deal. Trump has repeatedly stated his stance on climate change ; he believes that it is a lie, and is not as dramatic as scientists say. If the U.S. stays isolated, it will not be a good look for us worldwide.

The U.S. Global Change Research Program released information regarding climate trends in the U.S. and worldwide. Their data confirms that the past 3 years have been the warmest 3 in world history. The article also notes that precipitation has been steadily increasing in America since 1901. Most notably, however, is the fact that temperature increases are more dramatic in Alaska and the Arctic than anywhere else on Earth. This is worrisome because of the melting of glaciers in the coldest places on Earth, and the threat that it may pose to our future water supply.

A coalition of environmental groups plan to sue the U.S. Army Corps of engineers. They are suing because of the poor condition of the fish living in the Willamette River Basin. The Basin is located in Washington State, and eventually empties out into the Pacific Ocean. The accusers say that the Corps has missed deadlines, communicated poorly, and postponed action regarding the basin for the past decade.

President Trump appointed Kathleen Hartnett White head of the White House Council of Environmental Quality. Hartnett White has a similar stance to President Trump ; she is very critical of the reality of climate change. Many Democratic senators were critical of White's belief that "renewable energy is parasitic". At her appointment hearing, her statements appeared to be just as far-off as President Trump's : She even said that "carbon dioxide emissions have not gone up drastically", a statement that all recent data clearly refutes.

New research examines the extent to which some of the most polluted cities on Earth, located in China, have experienced increased mortality rates due to poor air conditions. Studies from Drexel University clearly indicate that from 2012-2015, these poor air conditions were not only directly related to illnesses such as asthma and diabetes, but also higher death rates. This information is not necesarilly shocking, but it is very scary to see in some of the most densely populated cities in the world such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Tianjin.

Versatile marine bacteria could be an influence on global warming, scientists discover - https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/11/171101151243.htm

Scientists have discovered that a nitrococcus bacterium, found in oceans worldwide, is increasing in number, and has the incredible ability to survive without oxygen by reversing its own metabolism. They capitalize on nitrite that collects at the bottom of the ocean, and reproducing it ; this nitrogen is obviously critical for all living organisms. This is a concern because oceans are already losing oxygen due to global warming. Scientists say that these bacteria will contribute to global warming by reversing their key role, which is to produce nitrogen for the rest of the ocean life.
