In my opinion I think Ruth is a good person. For what she is going through I think she puts a good face on. She keeps her head up and sticks by her family even though she doesn't really know what the future holds. Ruth doesn't feel sympathy for herself but I feel sympathy for her and her family for their living situation.

I picked a sun behind dark clouds to describe Ruth because she reminds me of light and sunshine. Through all the "darkness" she sees the bright side, the sun. I also feel like Ruth would be one of those moms that everybody loves. The Moms with the attitude but are still funny and everybody also wants to be around. I also feel That even though people thinks she is a buzz kill because she doesn't through her money around she is doing it for a reason. So that way her family is happy in the future and this will help lead them to a bigger future.

"Judge Me Not" by Dr. Audrey Coatesworth is a poem about not judging someone by anything except the things they do. I chose this because Ruth does not want to be judged by her skin tone or the way she dresses etc. She wants to be judge by the person she is and the things she does not only for herself but for others. Ruth respects people for who they are and she wants the same in return so i thought this poem fit her perfectly.

"All i'm askin is for a little respect." Like I said before Ruth is a very respectful woman. She grew up when racism was a huge thing. As a black woman she never really received much respect so I think for her this song was a perfect match. Not only does this song fit with race but it also fits with her family. She just wanted to be respected by everybody in the house, but by mostly Walter.

Oh, Walter…a home…a home.” P. 91,92
This has to go with my project because I have been talking about money, respect. This is after Mama bought a house, Ruth is so thankful. The family is now happy and can finally live their life not stuck in a rat hole. They finally had the money to buy a house and fulfill their dreams.
