These are all fourth grade level books that are very different stories but all share a different walk of life. This would be good for comparing and contrasting character, experiences, and also relating to different students.

Features of text: factual but narrative

These can be encountered at all grade levels as many children's books are written as biographies of important historical characters. I think at higher grades it can be much more interesting as studetns can learn much more in depth of a person they admire. Excerpts can also be used in history class.

Generally, in memoirs, the text is presented without many additions. There aren't subheadings, illustrations, or other things, but I think this also depends on who is writing it and the story they want to tell.

Each of these texts are high school level and can typically be found in a high school ELA class. Night is definitely for 9th graders, but the others may vary.

This is a genre that tackles how history should be viewed/written.

Generally high school to college.
